Just Another Saturday Night @ The Waffle House...

Rob made up some prototype tinder tube extensions for the nanostriker and sent me one to take out and try out in the field. So...earlier tonight I went out to find the right size straws to make some small diameter fire-straws for it. I still haven't found the right size I want yet, most are just a hair too large for it, but I did find some hollow stir sticks that would work... just a little smaller than what I really want. So...being out and wanting a cup of coffee I stopped by the local Waffle House and drank coffee and made up some fire-straws.

Now at any other restaurant my activities...cutting little red straws into small sections, mixing up PJCBs, and packing it into the little short straws, and sealing the ends with a lighter... might have drawn some attention...

BUT, I know all the crew by first name and they are used to my odd little projects...You'll never guess which one is actually in charge...

Plus...it is the waffle House we're talking about here, and it was Saturday night...which really does have it's moments....

Add to that the eight guys across the street with their guns pointed at a car and then at two guys on the ground, and my activities went virtually unnoticed.

Even the little demonstration (no pics) of the PJCBs and the nanostriker out front on the sidewalk as I was leaving went unnoticed. Just another Saturday night prep for a Sunday project lol.

Gotta love Waffle Houses on Saturday nights...especially after 2 am when the bars close.
 
Thats one of the places I miss the most about the south..

Burts Chili and a Patty Melt with extra pickles at 4am was heavenly!
 
I need to start hitting the Wah-Ho late night scene again. Looks like you had an entertaining time. lol
 
Aw Mist, not you & the Waffle House too . . . :eek: This is my wife's favorite place to go. I have offered Carrabba's, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, etc. & she always "vetoes" my vote & off we go. She said where else can you eat for $10.00 & get a floor show as well . . . :)

Around here, the WaHo is the best place to be at 4am, and drunk. That's about the only time I'm there, and the food is good and so is the team that serves it.

Seriously, my family of drunks have been visiting the WaHo in this way for a generations. Family legacies, <snif> it brings a tear to your eye.

My favorite is scrambled eggs and cheese, bacon, side of bacon, sausage, hashbrowns (straight up, no smothered,covered for me), OJ, glass of water, and a coffee to finish my meal. I usually get some toast and some more bacon to wash the coffee down.

Coulda used one this morning, last night was date night and I got a touch of hangover.

When I was down in SC I ate at the Waffle House, food was better then I thought it would be. I'd eat there more if it wasn't for home cooked meals. The people at the Waffle House are better then the people in my local park. I used a firesteel and people freaked out.. all except the wildlife officer that was with me.

Yeah, I was leaving about the time that started and once I saw all the guns come out I just went back in and ordered another cup (would have had to drive past to go home) When Holly said "I thought you were leaving" I just said no...I have a rule, once the guns come out I don't drive past them till things chill out. Learned that lesson the hard way down in Miami, and accidentally driving through one fire fight in ones life is quite enough.

unfortunately i have no Waffle Houses here in Vegas, but out bars never close. some of the local bars have a kitchen, so you can order food.
 
I like the Waffle House .... Kinda like the people of Wal-mart pics,(odd folks as it gets later) but your eating across from them......
 
I had a roommate in college hit on a waitress one night in a Waffle House at 3ish AM. I thought she shot him down. We somehow got separated that night (in the Waffle House...yeah there was a LOT of booze involved) and I ended up walking home alone to find the door locked. As it turned out his efforts were successful, the profillactic wasn't.

Man those were some wild times.

She really does have a point.

It becomes my favorite place after about 10:00 pm. Then again there are only a few restaurants i can go to and break out knives, a camera, and a note pad...and other things...and plan my next day out with drawing a lot of attention.

Robin asked me if I was making explosives...I told her no...to do that in a public restaurant would bad form in my opinion. The look she gave me was priceless :)
