I've been working on a batch of knives for Blade and this is the first one. I was hoping to have one more ready but its wanting to fight some. This one has a L-6 saw steel blade thats just over 7". More wrought iron and I believe the crown stag is from a mule deer. I picked up a few old racks at an antique store last summer and this is one of them and its by far the nicest. This is the natural color as far as I know.

Whoa , that is pretty. Love the shift in color on blade and the color of the stag is excellent.

very nice, Ray. Always love to see your work. How did you manage to snake the tang through that curvy handle?

Daniel, Actually that was one of the easier ones. I drill from both ends and hope to meet up in the middle for the hole and then the tang is bent alittle at a time till I get it to come all the way threw. Then theres more bending at the very end because I want the threaded end to be square with the end. Normally on a piece like this the end of the tang looks real simular to an S.

Ray you know what a thrill it is for me to see one of your fantastic knives all decked out. The temper line on that one is awesome.

For you guys who haven't yet had the good fortune to handle one of Ray's blades, the picture does not do it justice. The lines you can see are mirrored throughout the knife; I've seldom seen such pure functional design so beautifully executed in anything - knife, jewelry, archetecture, whatever. Ray is a unique talent and we're sure lucky to get to see what he does every day.

Thanks for sharing Ray. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in your shop for a few days; I'd learn more watching you than in a decade of experimenting trying to copy your pictures.

Nice Ray
handles should always match the blades IMHO and you do well in that,
nice lines .. sweeping from tip to crown,,,

and yes on the hamons.. sweet :)
