Made by Arno Bernard of S. Africa, I saw these at his table at the New Jersey Custom Knife Show in the fall... I thought they were a pretty good deal.

... titanium handle, carbon fiber inserts, button lock with jeweled thumb stud and lock release, S35V blade. Smooth opening and closing, rock solid lock-up.

For the price of a Sebenza (which I usually carry) they're not mass produced and have a bit more "personality". I especially like the button lock.

I ordered two from him and they just arrived today... one to use, one to add to my collection

Nice! I was just looking at an Arno Bernard folder today! How's the button lock release? Smooth?

Lock is very smooth...and secure. It's nice to be able to operate a locking folder with one hand and not have to put your thumb near the sharp edge of the blade.

Really smooth looking and clean lines. I could see one carrying that to work.

Those jewels definately give it a little extra character. I'm not familiar with button locks, but now I'm intrigued.

Congrats on the fine knife and thanks for supporting one of our local knife makers.

William .... Are you still enjoying the Arno Bernard? I missed out on the one I was looking at, and today ... another became available so I decided to snap it up. Got one just like yours ... with the CF inlays. do wish it were tip-up carry, but can live with tip down .... though it just seems so strange to have this knife with tip down carry and a lanyard hole on the butt end!

Been carrying and using it all week... mostly opening letters and the box containing another knife!!! I reaally like it... easy to open with one hand, solid lock-up, easy to unlock. Very sharp, well made, and beautiful. I think you'll be very happy...

I just ordered one of these from a Great Place to buy Knives. I'm familiar with the work produced by the Bernard father/son team and the knife pretty much meets all of my EDC criteria, so I couldn't pass it up. It should be a very nice addition to my collection.

Thanks for helping me make up my mind, barcbsa. :)

My folder arrived, buy sadly I've decided to return it. It's well made and the fit is just fine, but it's cosmetically imperfect. The blade appears to be stained on both sides. The staining isn't terribly noticeable, particularly if you look at it from straight on. But it's easy to see when viewed from different angles. It almost appears as if something dripped onto the blade and darkened some areas slightly. It's not a surface condition because it won't clean off. I doubt it would affect the performance of the knife, but I expect better QC on a knife that costs as much as the Bernard folder does.

I hope the situation I encountered only affects my example.
