Oh, Man, What A Time!

What a show! Customs everywhere!

Met up with John, Oliver, Donald, Kevin, David, Joel, Liong, NCBlades, as well as a few other forumites! Had a great time at Ruby Tuesdays looking at cutlery and showing stuff off!

Ok, so you want to know what's new? Well as I hate to be the first to let the cat of the the bag so to speak, we saw the debut of the "Mini Commander" Yep, guys it's official! It's available! Derek said those of us who have a order in previously are on the list and they will now take orders! What I'll tell you is that the Blade length is 3.40. I predict that it's going to be a great seller! Yep it's got the wave! Looks identical to the commander just smaller! Derek said that Ernie was grinding late into the night to get these to the show and they were overnighted and arrived on Saturday afternoon. Price you ask? How's $169.00?
By the way Derek recevied 4 prototypes and we were playing with them like crazy! They weren't for sale but there lots of begging! By the way when they are ready to be sold there are 4 suspects who have their dibs in for them!

Guess what else is now out from Emerson? A AUTO! Yep you heard it here first! Derek recevied a prototype of the auto as well as a manual!

There also is another knife new to the lineup! I forget the name of it. John will be able to fill everyone in, due to he working his butt off at the Emerson Booth all weekend! I'm sure he's horse! He's got photos of all the goodies and I'm sure will post them up as soon as he is available. Oliver also has photos but as he is enroute to Las Vegas, and California he probably won't have internet access until he gets back home.

As far as Emerson Customs I saw two pre-tacs that are Expensive! They had been offered to both Jackstraw and myself and we declined due to the price. Seeing them in person was well "interesting".

I also saw a CQC6 Specwar go for $1500.00. Saw a CQC6 Dress Viper go for $3700.00.00 Joel lucked upon a individual with a CQC8 double ground 2001, for sale and Joel traded a couple of knives he had with him for the 8, and I ended up with it.

Liong got a couple of Ken Onions and I also bought one Onion. Didn't see a single Ryan for sale, but Ancient Sul had his #1 and #4 there for display, and Nowhere fast had at least one of his many Ryans with him that we played with!

Knives out the Wazoo! Everywhere knives! Talk about overload! I'm exhausted and I'm sure this will get everyone pumped up with lots of questions that I'll try to answer, and I'm sure other Suspects will chime in soon!

By the way Ark, I got a LOT of comments about the "usual suspect" shirt! Lots of folks wanted to know where to buy them. Saw no one else wearing one, but you can't believe all the people that came up to me and asked who I was since they knew that the shirt was associated with us "Suspects" I also will be receiving a free Perrin trainer from Larry at Bladeart for wearing the shirt. While I was at Larry's table talking to him, Mike and Vince, Fred Perrin showed up and it was cool talking with him as well. Eric he's got some cool things that you would have died for! Larry's also getting in a couple more things from him.

I'm beat!

That ROCKS!!

That Mini Commanders blade length of 3.4" means that it is legal to carry in my state.

Thanks for the info.

Elaborate on the mini-C, man! Does that mean the guys who emailed have dibs on production, or do we have to re-order?? Tell me tell me!!

Thanks for the update, Don! Larry warned me that he would be meeting up with Fred and bringing goodies back for me.

Hey Guys,

Sniper, it was great meeting with you. Man, I couldn't believe how much fun we had. I met a lot of forumites. All great people. Man what a community. Well, Snipe, If I ever wanna sell one of my Ryan's I will let u know first.
U know I got tired after carrying 50lbs of knives around the whole day. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. Man, everyone was way too cool. Talk to u soon.

Oh forgot,

Saw the new Tachyon Balisong. Hey, guys get on the list for this baby. It is hot. Mike show it to me. The blade is satin finish with a blood groove. The ti handles is made of two slab and a diagonal spacer. The cut outs are really cool. Fit and finish is nice. I ordered a stonewash version.

On Saturday night, I went out with Spark and Gallager. Too cool. Nowhere Fast join us later. But Hollister being the old man he is told us he was too tired to join us. Well, he missed out. But next year I will do whatever it takes to drag him out with us. Later dudes

Don,
I also have a mini commander on backorder,so does that mean our orders are going to be processed first, i know this question has been asked but, the more of us who do ask maybe our chances of getting them first will be better

Guys:

I specifically asked Derek, (great guy, by the way!) about ordering the Mini Commander. He said that they have our previous orders from several months ago and that they will be processing orders starting with those previous orders first. He said there is no need for us to re-order if we have a order in with them.

The time frame is somewhat up in the air on delivery. It is my understanding that they may have them ready for delivery in approximately 8 weeks or so. I'm sure Derek will keep us advised when he gets back from the show and gets caught up. (My mention of 8 weeks is Kansas weeks, not the normal Emerson weeks, thankfully!)

EKI also had another new knife available which is a manual that I looked at but failed to pay a whole lot of attention too since I prefer customs. I'm sure John will chime in sometime later since he worked the booth and demonstrated all the knives many, many times! And what a Salesman John is! He did Emerson proud!

As far as the new Emerson Auto, it's got a new cool handle which felt just a little slick in my hand. Looking at it just briefly, it appeared to have a coil spring in it, and I thought that maybe it should be just a tad bit more powerful to really zip that blade out there. Remember, this was only a proto, and I'm sure there will be time to make some changes to this prior to Emerson producing it. I understand Ernie and the staff in California stayed up very late to get this and the 4 minis done in time to get them shipped to Derek at the show. There also is a manual verson of the "auto".

It was really great putting faces with the names of the suspects, and getting to visit with them in person!

Wow guys, sounds like Christmas in June!

A mini C! an auto,.......sounds like Ernie's been really busy. Now all I need is a 6" chisel ground tanto factory fixed blade from EKI!

Well, I went to my cousin's wedding this weekend instead of the Blade Show. I really wasn't as interested in the knives as I was in meeting everyone.

I've got to go now. The tears welling up in my eyes are making it hard to see.

The Blade Show was a blast. John worked his butt off in the Emerson booth. He must still be recovering and has not been able to respond.

The mini Commnader was excellent and Emerson will sell a boat load of them. It seems to be the perfect size. The mini also has the file work like the SOCFK on the thumb ramp and the heel of the handle.

The new knife is called the Triton X-39 on the info sheet that they had. Derek had one in an auto and one manual. The handle is shaped like a SpecWar and made out of aluminum.

The other new knife is called the Blackbird. It looks like the Raven but with titanium liners and G10 handles like the other folders. It will be available with both A & B style blades.

John took pictures of them and will be posting them soon.

I'm orginizing pictures as I post this and should have most of them up before ya'll wake up.

John

I just wanted to say how nice it was to meet everyone this past weekend. And thanks for letting me fondle your customs. As a newbie the blade show was quite an overwhelming experience, especially since it was my first knife show.
I'm still a little worn out.

Chad, it was great seeing you there. Now that your "out of the (lurking) closet", I expect to see more of you here mister!
