Just went to the gun show and this man had a brand new large 21 sebenza and i picked it up. It's a lot bigger than i expected, but it is freaking beautiful. Blade is centered perfect, no nicks on the titanium, sharp but not as sharp as i hoped. The only thing that i didn't like is that is has a late lockup but to be honest it's not that big of a deal. This makes me want to trade one of my para 2's and my gayle bradley for a small sebbie. Im glad that i am now an owner of one of these fine knives and i hope more are to come!

After I got my first sebenza . I sold my entire collection to fund a small micarta damascus sebenza and an older s30v sebenza. Now I have my eyes on a website cgg small regular sebenza. They get expensive. good luck with the addiction.

Yea, when you see them in person, you can appreciate them much more then just pictures you see on the web =) Congrats!

I already posted a wttf thread up! I have a m390 para which im going to keep so i put my dlc/digi cam up and a lnib gayle bradley to see if someone might be interested. Some people say they were underwhelmed when they get a sebenza but i sure wasn't. I just really like the simplicity (i took off the lanyard and it was really easy to reassemble) and elegance of it.

As with BBQ BOY my favorite version is the small (specifically small regular). I have been EDCing a small sebenza every day for over a year and couldnt be more satisfied.

You may try cleaning it and see if that affects lockup%. I know CR likes his a little later than most, 50-75. My newest was around 60 when I first received it brand new. I was pretty pleased with that. Used it for a few weeks then cleaned it. After cleaning it was at dead 50, no play at all. Hasn't moved in a month, use it everyday. Give it a shot and see if it changes.

Just use the instructions below, never failed me.

Ya i cleaned it last night and the lockup did go to 50%, I also found a really small chip in the blade but it's no biggie. Im just gonna use it till it gets dull and resharpen it with the WEPS ill be getting for my bday in april or send it to clay allison to see what kind of edge he could put on to see what i can expect from my WEPS. I hate factory bevels from all companies with a passion, they are all very brittle to me.

The chip is a little odd, stuff happens. I like to let factory edges dull as well and then reprofile it freehand. I guess you just get accustomed to your edge day in and day out. My Sebenza was perfectly even (rare in non crk's), just not razor sharp. But quite frankly I'd much rather have it even and dull than sharp and uneven.

Looks good.

On one side the bevel is compltely even, and on the other its a tad bit uneven :( I guess i just got one from a day that someone had an off day, the birthdate is december 12, 2011. I'd rather dull it up after my touch up on the sharpmaker than send it in to chris reeve to get it fixed because i want this knife to last very long and the less metal taken off the better.

If u don't mind show us a pic of the chip, if u plan on making it a user just use it as normal i doubt u should notice it unless your only cutting paper and the like, sharpen it when its dull and after u have gone through that process once or twice and your good:thumbup: I think if u sent it in to CRK u would be losing some metal prematurly mine wasn't razor sharp as I like new, but S35vn seemed to strop right up and take a very fine edge so that is a plus in my book

The chip was extremely small so after i touched it up on the sharpmaker, it was basically gone and a lot sharper than before.

what happens when you use the sebenza hard for a while with a strong grip. Does the lockbar go all the way to the other scale? This is one of the reasons I am iffy on buying a sebenza.

The lockbar will travel over more when you squeeze the knife very hard. This is because the lockbar is a spring and can deflect to allow more travel. I use my sebenzas at work for some tough tasks and rarely notice any additional movement, though can make it happen on occasion. Not so that it touches the opposite scale, just so it's noticeably later until released (it does not stick). I have learned to really like the confidence that 75-80% lockup gives you that the knife is not going to fold on your fingers. I have also come to realize that the lockup does not really change over time. My first 21 started at about 80%, and it's still there after a couple years. My 25 has not moved either, but I've used it less so it's hard to say if I will find the same. My early Umnumzaan also started with very late lock-up, but has not moved.

It's just a different philosophy with CRK, that to me makes more sense. If CRK knows the lockbar does not wear out, why not have a nice strong and safe deep lock-up? The knives have a lifetime warranty anyways, so there is really no worry.

If anything at all bothers you about the knife, send it to the shop and get their opinion. They will either fix it under warranty (assuming its not modified and I don't see any obvious signs that it is) or they'll ease your mind about the action/lockup. Their service is often a tipping point for me when buying choices arise among other similar value knives.

Another common phenomenon you'll notice is that from now on all your other knife experiences will be compared to your Sebenza. For better or worse, it's the gold standard IMHO for productions and customs. Just watch and see.
