I believe this 885UH was thrown together just before the doors closed at the factory.
Notice the stains on the sheepfoot blade.
I also had an 8OT which had a stainless sheepfoot.
Does anyone else have any similar examples?

I have a few "thrown together just before the doors closed" knives, but none with mix-matched carbon and stainless blades. Very interesting.

Hi Guys --

Schrade+ blades are LESS prone to STAIN (stain-less) than the Old Timer high carbon steel blades.
Any Schrade blade that's not cared for properly will stain.

Uncle Henry 885UH - one of my favorites!!

I agree, however, it takes quite a bit to stain a Schrade+ blade this much.
I have Schrade+ blades that have never seen a drop of oil and no rust spots.
This blade is stained from tip to handle and the other 2 blades are spotless.
I also mentioned I had an 8OT which had a stainless sheepfoot.
More than just coincidence.

There have been other examples of stainless and carbon blades being combined, and there sure was a lot of mix-and-matching parts in the last couple of weeks at the factory.

Still, I wouldn't say for certain that your knife was made in 2004 without more information. The occasion miss-matching of blades and frames was a long-standing tradition at Schrade. :)
