Hey guys. Just bought my first benchmade in about 12+ years. I handled my brothers bugout in titanium and loved it. It was light, thin and the blade stock seemed like it would lend itself well to EDC. I normally carry a Spyderco paramilitary 2, a griptilian variant or a Chris Reeve of some sort. Excited for this one… it’s the 535-3. Carbon fiber and s90v!

The 535-3 is a fantastic version. The wear resistance of S90V coupled with the strength and light weight of carbon fiber go perfectly with the Bugout form.

Nice choice!

Love mine, Have the 535-3, 535bk-4 and a custom M4 bugout with AWT scales, started off with the 535bk-4 and loved it so much I got 2 more bugouts. The 535-3 is a great carry, its super light weighed it a hair above the grivory scales but couldnt feel a difference whereas I can feel the difference with my other 2 bugouts, the s90v hold up great so far as well, havent had any chipping issues with my bugout or 940-1

Washers worked out great. I put them on a lapping plate and polished them. They fit perfect and the knife has great action and no more feeling like the blade rocks between the scales. You’d think by now they would put larger washers in. It just makes sense…

My favourite benchmade model by far, esp. with AWT scales and oversized washers :)

Are those Anodized or Cerakote or both, if both which is your preferance or what made you go with one over the other? Thinking about putting together another Bugout with either AWT scales or Rockscale Ti with an S90V blade.

Ordered this from the BM custom shop and is by far my most carried knife, after an Omega Spring broke I added stronger aftermarket Omega springs and over sized PB washers.

Mine are cerakote. Coating is pretty tough but will wear off eventually. Dont have any experience with anodized AWT scales, sorry. BTW the AWT scales are slim and slightly longer than the original Benchmade scales - providing better grip imo.

Ooo which is your favourite cherry and why?

Nice bugout collection.
It's a tough call but I'd probably say the -3. The Bugout was designed to be an ultralight but strong slicer, and carbon fiber and S90V maximize those traits very well. Ask me next month and I might say the -4, just because of the added heft and good looks.

Nice configuration, I like the lanyard cutout in the scales rather than using a backspacer. How’s the 20CV working out?
