Closed a deal and paid tonight, seller is shipping tomorrow. Barely used with a custom leather sheath.

Didn't get a spectacular deal, but I did okay. Paid a little less than retail, not counting the custom sheath, so I'm happy.

now that you have a hunter's axe can we put you in a mad-max-type cage and make you fight a grizzly?

Enjoy it! The one thing about having one of these fashionable choppers on hand is; 'do not leave it unattended' when there are strangers about. Yer run of the mill vintage stuff works just as well but does not draw as much attention from thieves.

I picked up a Hunter's axe at a gun show for a few years ago for $50. I still haven't tried using the flay poll, but will someday and am looking forward to it.

My first Axe (Gerber BackpAxe) was stolen when I was no more than 15 feet away. It was quite a while ago (I was 14 or so) but have never left an Axe unattended in public since.

Just before it was stolen, a kid had taken it without my permission and was chopping a log that was resting on his legs (yep, I wrote that right) and shockingly chopped a nice slit in his thigh almost to the bone, it required 3 layers of stitches to close.

Also, anyone you let borrow your Axe will use it to chop rocks. It's a fact: they will say they want to chop logs, but they really just can't wait to chop rocks...

That is little bit cynical but well worth heeding for those of us foolish enough to lend out a prize axe to a Greenhorn, even just the once. I long ago learned to subscribe to the tradesmen rule of never lending out tools unless I deliberately don't want them back or have written that particular one off already.

I've become slightly obsessed with narrowing down what Granfors Bruks to buy. It'll be first hawk/ax (which ever I buy) of this type and I need to settle on realistic use. I have three different RMJ hawks and buying a camping / hunter / woods tool is my next adventure. The selections is good, now to decide. Decisions decisions.......

I have the small forest and it meets my needs. I am no longer in the Boreal so this axe gets intermittent use. I love that it can be dropped into a back pack and or takes up little space. It feels to me that it covers the hatchet end of the spectrum better than the demands of a full sized axe. Yes it's a compromise, but a useful one, particularly when size and weight are factors. I really like it to this day and have zero buyers remorse.
