CT shooter -Thanks, I bought the HEST knife when it first came out. I searched till I found one to get when I saw it... as fast as I could.
This is not a #'d one though...I wasn't fast enough.
Reading RYP's books and owning the Izula and 5...it was an easy call to buy it. I respected the heck out of RYP...and loved the knives RC/ESEE were putting out, so I had to have it. When it first came...it was so close in size to the Izula...I didn't use it. The Izula was already my EDC. BUT when I finally decided to just start using the HEST...It grew and grew on me -
I've used it for anything I can think of. Few weeks back I was under the jeep...the HEST was on me...so I used it...scraping crap and grease off a U-joint on a trail to fix the jeep. I've used it for weekend construction projects, cleaning out the gunk under the mower deck, scraping a door frame to fix a sticking door...
I shingled an add-on to our shed and used it to cut the tar paper and shingles. I've used it for cutting cable, wire, paracord and twine.
The pry bar makes a great bark stripper and even a fuzz stick maker. (make sure you cordlock the knife and sheath together first!

)
The knife's seen use stirring the coals of a fire, cleaning fish, cutting veggies in the kitchen, and plenty of beers opened...(but not enough!

)
Deer camp is coming up...and if I am lucky enough...it will clean a nice bit of venison too! Duck season later on means that it will be seeing duty there too....I LOVE stealth hunting out of the canoe.
what it amounts to is... The HEST is "on me." It's reached for and grabbed before I grab anything else or walk back to a toolbox for something else. It's not perfect for a lot of things...but it's amazing how much it CAN do with all the built in tools. I could get rid of the Izula and I don't really need a 3...to me the HEST is something I'd buy again if I lost mine.
Obviously, I don't expect this kind of abuse out of the Hest/f...but I look forward to getting it. I trust/love/use/work my fixed blades. :thumbup:
