Just bought a Kershaw Boa

I while ago I purchase a Kershaw Scallion. I think it is a great little back up, light use knife. Very clever and well designed.

I went back and bought a Kershaw Boa next. I must admit I have always looked at the Boa as a bit of a clever gimmick, not really suitable for a serious large folder. Well I was very mistaken. The knife seems very strong with good quality steel (CPM440V). It works flawlessly, although a slight bit slower, in opening, than the small Scallion. For the money ($110.00) I think it is a good value and most likely will rival my Commander in daily use. I like fast opening folders and other than the Commander, the Boa seems to fit this requirement.

I am curious as to how the black finish aluminum handle will wear. Does anyone have any long term experience? Does the handle scratch easily??

My Boa is the one with the funky multi-coloured handle. I've had it for a couple months now and it's still unscratched. Most of the time it's clipped to my pockets so it doesn't contact my coins and keys as much as if I just dropped it into my pocket. What I have noticed is that the handle doesn't seem as grippy anymore, when it was brand new it felt a bit like really fine sandpaper, now it's smoother. Could be it's just dirty and a bit oily from my hands and being used at work, I'll give it a good washing soon and see how it feels then.

I'm going to take a close look at this knife real soon. It has intrigued me for quite a while. Add to that, I have developed an affinity for recurved edges recently.

There have been many favorable comments around here about the Boa.

Good luck with it.:)

Can't say enough good stuff about my Boa. Love it.

Hey I've been meaning to ask this. I've got the anodized multicolor Boa. If I get obsessive and buy an all black model, would it be difficult to reassemble them into two "customs" (i.e. Black Handle/Satin Blade and one with Black Blade/colored handle). I'm new here so sorry if this is the wrong forum for this.

A black BOA has been my duty carry for well over a year now and
has seen hard use. The black scales and pocket clip still look new.
Any Benchmade I have would have the finish on the pocket clip severely scratched and marred under similar use. I can't kill this BOA.
