Just bought a Kershaw Storm 1470

I have only gotten into "quality" knife collecting recently, and it all started with a Damascus Zing. From there, I've sort of developed an addiction to older Kershaw models that I missed out on years ago (I will kill for a ZDP/Ti Blur among others), and when I saw a Storm for a sale I had to snatch it up. However, in multiple videos/pictures there are some discrepancies about the blade steel used. It's usually listed as 13C26N, although I have occasionally seen it listed as 14C28N, and there's a youtube video where it was stamped as 14C28N (this video was from 2009). I know the knife was produced a while ago, and for a reasonably long time, so can anyone confirm whether they changed steels during the production of it?

Thought I'd chime in here with some info regarding your steel question. I'm not sure exactly when the Storm was discontinued, but the changeover in steels from 13C26N to 14C28N apparently occurred in early 2009. Here's a link to a thread regarding the changeover. Hope that helps.

I am kind of in the same boat you are. I decided I wanted to get a few more blurs, the ZDP189 and the SG2. Well it took some time but Ive recently aquired the ZDP189 Blur, SG2 blur(man this this is sharp) and found and bought a S60V green Blur. I found a G10 blur but havent pulled the trigger on getting it yet. Just have to keep looking and be patient. Its kind of a fun hunt. Which Blurs do you have?

That question segues nicely into a post I was just about to make actually. I do not own any Blur's (I meant to put Leek in that post) because I try not to buy knives I can't carry legally in my state (RI is 3" from the end of the handle) or I would be so overwhelmed at the multitude of knives I wanted. I just got the Storm today, and I love this blade shape. However, I noticed that it looked considerably bigger then most of my EDC knives. I took out a ruler, and there is absolutely no way to measure this knife and get a blade length of the advertised 3", it's more like 3-1/4" or even a little more. This makes me a little bit nervous, but since I'm a liberal arts student at a college full of rich sheltered kids, I don't think I'm going to have a run in with the law anytime soon. Still, imprecise factory measurements could be a big deal for some people.
