Just grabbed one of these guys in chisel blade. Will be my second Microtech. Any owner's input welcome!

i have a socom elite in 20cv. i am very impressed with it. fit and finish are absolutely top notch and it is just solid as a rock.

I've had one since Jan and frankly haven't carried it that much. The thing that puts me off is the way it is put together. It uses some kind of different type of fasteners. I'll also say this, it is without a doubt the smoothest most rapid deploying blade I've ever owned bar none and that is saying something. keepem sharp

I'd like to hear more about that knife as well, it's been on my radar for a bit. What's your take on it so far IGotStabbed? Does your glass breaker rattle?

It seems to me that Microtech has begone to turn things around. I've seen excellent quality in the new knives that I've handled. The Socum is a good solid knife.

They are well made knives. Mine is S35VN and yes my glass breaker rattles a bit. I could have sworn I had a set of those multi pin tools but can't find them. I would like to try and tighten the tension on the blade deployment a bit. Mine is a pse edge and is razor sharp to boot. keepem sharp

I'll report in once I get the knife but according to the videos, the 2012s with the weird screws:
-Fixed the rattling glass breaker
-Removed lockbar hole on reverse side of handle
-Ball bearing pivot
-Thinner lock bar

Too bad the new ones use the crappy screws. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Ive been eyeing getting an all black one as well. It is definitly on my want list just havent pulled the trigger yet.

Havent held one in hand yet.

Can you comment on the ergos?

The Socom, mini-Socom, and U.D.T. models are my favorites from MT. Well balanced. I'm partial towards the plain edge models as they are aggressive enough for my use.Micro Tech Mini Socom (4).jpgMicro Tech Mini Socom (5).jpgMicro Tech U.D.T Auto (5).jpgMicro Tech U.D.T Auto (7).jpg

I would love one! But I can't carry tip down carry. It drives me crazy!

Yeah I personally dont understand this. In my wide collection I have owned only one tip down knife and it was a gift. Tip up is definately way more ergonomic to me. it just seems to me that no matter where the factory places the clip, that they would drill and tap all positions.

Exactly! It sounds silly and a little petty, but tip down only carry is preventing me from buying it. I would sincerely purchase one tomorrow if they offer tip up. There are a number of knives I can't bring myself to buy for this same reason. I just know I would ever carry or use it, so I buy something else.

Even if they drilled holes for tip up it's going to cost $125 for the tool to unscrew it.

Good point! I like the knife so much that extra $125 wouldn't really phase me. See Microtech, not only are you missing out on the $300 knife sale, but also the $125 tool sale to reverse the pocket clip. It is in their interest to offer alternative clip locations.

Wow this thing is amazing. It feels very good in the hand with very comfy ergos mainly on the index finger groove and tapering at the end of the handle. These can be had for [Removed] and is worth it!
