Hi, guys. Just found a bargain, bought a couple of Moras for Ten quid (£10) each!!!
The sheathes make 'em look pretty er...well..er "crappy", but for the price I think they're great little survival/utility blades. Super for whittling with, and Im actually using one at the mo. to make a bow based on some instructions in one of Ray Mears' books!
I think I first of the Mora in here, so thanks everyone!

I have two Mora Clippers! I would rather have one of these and my Hatchet in the wilds than any of my big exspensive Combat knives. If only I had bought the Mora's first, I would not have all these big knives that I never use. Because of the Mora, I plan to sale all of my big knives.

I own the Mora 2000 and a Frost SwAK. Both knives get used a lot. The only problem I have is that I havn't bought any more of them. :D I prefer the M2k because of the handle and think it bites deeper during hard use, making power cutting too easy. The sheaths are functional and surprisingly tough. I modified the sheath a little, to wear the SwAK as a neck knife and am confident enough in the sheaths ability to hold the knife, that I wear it handle down.

When I bought them and put them to use, I put my BK-7 in a rucksack and left it there. Both of the Swedish blades batan well and do pretty much everything I need them to do and are easier to handle and control, than most of the larger knives I own. I coupled the M2K with my khukuri while harvesting some Willow and striping the bark. I was in heaven, as both blades performed extremely well at their given tasks and together, made a great team.

Mora knives are great. Just ordered 3 new M2000 but I ask myself why I did this? Think one will be enough as tough as they are. Probably I only ordered 3 because of the nice price. :D

I can honestly see using the Mora far more (or Mora! HeeHee!)than my BK7, BK9 or Battle Rat. Ive got a "suped up" Kukri which I may well partner one with. I used the kukris chopping power to rough out the shape of the bow but found it difficult for the finer work, time for the Mora to step up!
Id really never heard of the Mora until came in here, so thanks to everyone who ever talked about 'em.
The sheathes are pretty functional, too! Not pretty, but functional.

Hey folks , not too long ago out of boredom I customized my Mora.
The one I bought had a painted red handle , I sanded off the red and took it to about 1200 grit , then very lightly stained it with some reddish brown stain , wiped most of it off to show the grain , then applied a few coats of tungoil. Next I blued the spine of the blade and the 'guard' and took the blade itself to a 800 hand rubbed finish , the resulting knife is far better looking. Just thought I'd share that. :)

Last week I ran my survival course (Lost in the Serra post) and gave the Mora's (SWAK) a field test in the hands of novices for the first time. They worked great and now I have four guys asking me to buy them Mora's asap!

I had set mine up with a length of paracord and a BSA Hotspark on the lanyard. I had the guys loop the Hotspark under their belt for better retention.

The SWAK is a great companion to the machete. I gave each pair of guys a SWAK and a 14 or 16 inch tramontina. Not bad for a $17.50 combination. Mac

rebeltf,

I'd love to see some pictures of your Mora if you have any. Did you use something like a cold blue product?

Ryan,

I cold blued a Tramontina machete once and it turned out really cool. Mac

Sorry for not posting pics , unfortunatly my camera either sucks or I cant take pics worth jack. They all turn out blurry ....
Will try again soon and post a pic.
Yea Ryan I did use some cold bluing. Stuff works great with the right type of steel.

I've been thinking of customizing my Mora a little. The one i have isn't a wooden handled one though. But i might try to give the handle a better shape and maybe add some cord of some sort. The sheath i'll need to fix up, the belt loop is cracked.
