I grew up when the First Blood / Rambo craze was in full effect. I hade the hollow handle compass knife and all. I loved the stupid piece of junk. Spent many a campout in Boy Scouts with it, until one day, the inevitable - knife/handle separation. So I have a love for the hollow handle, but know it's faults well. Then, a few years ago, saw the Chris Reeves 1 piece knife product, read the reviews, fell in love again, but was too broke to own one. Still am. Probably from buying too many other knives.....
So came across somewhere online last night that Schrade bought the rights to make the design after Reeves stopped. WHAT? It's still around? A little surfing on the site from a South American river, and I am soon to be the proud owner of a Schrade EXTREME survival knife. Cheap by comparison to the original, and I know the differences, so don't tell me there's a reason why. I get it. But teenage love has grown into man love for the hollow handle again.
Anyone have/had/want one of these? I want to do a SERIOUS stress test on this thing, but I love and respect my knives too much to try the things I have in mind. Anyone??

I'd just get a Cold Steel Bushman and cover the hole closer to the blade and cover the other side with one of those wine bottle corks.

Watched to youtube, and looking forward to getting this in hand. Held up to a lot more than I'll ever do..... hopefully.

Got one and love it, but this one is tugging at my hollow heart strings. Plus, I've already tried the closing the handle on it, and didn't like the corks taking up too much of the little space and coming loose. This will be easier. Looks to be a lousy chopper, but I like my Condor Boomslang for that.

I haven't seen these before. I missed out on the Chris Reeve one piece knives, so I might have to pick up one of these myself. Thanks!

They're actually pretty well made for what they are. Heavy, but they're durable!

Dude, thanks for bringing this to my attention! I probably never would have found it otherwise. I always REALLY wanted the CRK knife, in fact it was the one I wanted most by far, but yeah, it was too expensive at the time.

So which one did you get? Plain edge? Full size? If so can you tell me the model number? It's kind of confusing. I'm definitely going to pick one up.

I guess they don't have a plain edge in the full (read: HUGE) size. Not a fan of the serrations, but I ordered one anyway.

I'll do a review with pics when it arrives. Thanks again for pointing it out.
