Hello

I am new to the forum. I have been throwing on and off since I was a teenager and I am now in my late 40's. Given that length of time, I should be better than I am. ;) I have thrown different knives over the years, from 13" down to 5". Although I have always wanted to participate in a competition, I have yet to do so.

To that end, I recently purchase a set of United Cutlery GH2033 knives. They arrive tomorrow. I would love to hear from those who have used these. Once I have had a chance to throw them a bit, I will come back and share my thoughts. For the past 10 years or so, I have been throwing between 6" and 8" knives ever since losing my Bob Karp so it will be a bit different to throw competition length knives. I throw with my kids so that is why I have used shorter knives.

Thanks for any feedback you might have. I am looking forward to participating in the conversations here.

Thanks for the link. I took a look at your review. It was very helpful. I am not sure how much more I could add once I get a chance to throw them. A couple of things I will focus on from your review. The most obvious is the steel and chipping. I will see how long I go before I get my first ding. Note, I was able to get this set for $38 so pretty good deal. Second, the no spin throws. I have wanted to learn that throw for 30 years but I never spent the time to do it. I am determine to learn now and I can see how these knives are not ideal given the shape and the need to draw the finger down on release to stop the spin.

Thanks again for the link. Very helpful.

They will work for no spin, but there are some better choices. I would check out the company flying steel. Though I do not own a set myself, I'm told they make very good knives.

Edit: Also, thank you very much for the kind words on my review. Glad it helped out.

I am planning on a GH comp set as mentioned here, but to date have the GH Gen-X Large. They have been really good for me, but after seeing Ren Reborn's review of the large comps, I'm really pining for a set in the future. Look forward to hearing how they're working out for you when you start throwing them.

Hope your GH Comp knives have been working for you. I have a set due to arrive next week.
Let us know when you get a chance.
