like said above ive been looking for a good price on a tnt that was nib and finally got a offer i couldnt refuse. i get it saturday and am really looking forward to it. Does anyone here have and use one, and if they do how well does it hold to edc tasks. Im not sure if its gonna be a user or not just wanted to see if i could before i do (if that makes any sense).

either way i cant wait till saturday the wait is killing me :D if anyone wants to post pics of theres feel free. Id love to see it.

Thanks, wolf5391

Congratulations! I've had mine for a while now (IIRC it was the first knife I purchased with my BCCI discount) and while I have carried it on occasion I'll be perfectly honest and say that it's so nice I hate to take a chance of messing it up so it sees very little pocket time any more..

I have a couple of the CF models and one of the little Waimea's. They are sweet but spendy so I've never carried one as a user. Instead, I carry one of the Vantages which are very close relatives and if I mess one up or lose it, I won't cry all night! Same steel and I like the pocket clip location better.

You will love yours I'm sure and the decision to EDC or not is personal choice.

I've used and carried a TNT for about 8 years or so (I don't remember exactly when I got it but IIRC it was around the time my eldest son was born). The 172 is in my pocket right now. It is a great knife. The S30V is treated well, the handles are light and attractive, and the lock is superb. The open back design can be uncomfortable if you are really pressing down but that isn't an issue often. This is a nice knife but not so nice I wouldn't want to use it. If you want to look at it just get a picture. It's cheaper. This is a knife designed to be used. Do it.

I like it alot. I've had one for a while. Great steel, heat treat and handle. Pretty light for it's size. Really super knife. I ground off the guards, polished the front scale and made a low ride clip for it. This is the only pic I have:

I don't own a TNT.

The first TNT I ever met was Chuck Buck's. He was using it to open packaging at a factory clearance sale where he and CJ were signing blades. I was admiring it and, since I had a whole bag of knives that needed signing, he let me examine it while I was waiting.

Just gorgeous. Excellent balance, delightful proportions, sharp as all get out, and it sat in my hand like it had been made for me.

My greatest regret with Buck knives is not having bought a TNT while they were still being made.

I have a Vantage (or four), and the Vantage is patterned very close in many ways to the TNT, but the TNT has that little extra something. Now that I've had a year or so to run the Vantage through its paces, I can say for certain that I would take to the TNT like a duck to water.

It's still on my "to buy" list, pending only the accumulation of cash and the opportunity.

it does cost a shiny penny but it is worth it to me. some people say its feels cheap but to me a strider feels cheap so its all relevent to the owner. as for me this will remain in my collection for a long time and maby grow in value as more demand and less availability grows. either way i love the knife and maybe ill get another to edc along with my sebenza :)

It was ALOT shinier before it spent a couple years in my pocket. :) Now it looks like it was dragged across the driveway.

NTS,

If you send me your titanium scales I'll annodize them a nice color for you. Then they will look like they have been road tested but with anodization!
