just bought a wicked edge and it came with 100,200,400 and 600 stones. I wanted to get a little sharper edge. Was thinking the 1200/1600 ceramic stones and a leather strop. Or should I skip 1200/1600 and get Chosera?

I have the W/E with 1200/1600 ceramic stones, they are delicate, but do bridge the gap to the strops better than nothing.

The diamonds leave tough scratches in the steel, takes a bit of effort to get mirror finishes, if that's what your looking for.

Never tried the chosera.

Yep get the Choseras.

Use the diamonds for reprofiling and then drop down to the lowgrit choseras to convert from diamond scratches to synthetic scratches. Finish off with a strop or two and you will have some beautifull high performance finishes.

You are also missing the 800/1000 stones. they seem to fill in a gap that is missing in you set-up. Really like them for the EDC sharpenings.

Yes the 800/1000 diamonds are very versatile. The 1200/1600 are probably not necessary and are only good for mirror polishing.

I also stop with the 800/1000 stones. Sometimes with the 600 stone. Either of these produces a "wicked" sharp edge for me.

Definitely get the 800-1000 diamonds before moving on to anything smoother. They really "tighten up" your scratch pattern nicely before continuing on into the ceramics or strops. Otherwise you will not see the benefit of the ceramics or strops for a very long time. On your harder, more wear resistant steels, the jump from 600 to strops will be big enough that it will take forever to notice any effect. The 800-1000 bridge that gap. Hope this makes sense. :)

I'll give you an alternative route. If you're wanting to head toward a polished edge then yes, get the 800/1000 diamonds next. But if you're headed for sharp, using the ceramics after a 600g stone leaves a great edge... polished with a bit of "tooth", and cleans up the edge (burrs, etc.) nicely. There's some pics and discussion in this thread to give you an idea... it was done with the "Micro Fine" ceramics (that I prefer), but you'll get similar results with the 1200/1600 ceramics.

I bought the pro pack and it comes with 800/1000 and strops. I haven't needed anything else.

I have the 800/1000 stones as well as the chosera to 10000. For a nice edge, I use the diamonds up to 1k then strop. I only use the chosera sometimes when I want that next level edge. They work great but are more effort because of the soaking, clean up, and lapping. They are also pricey.
