Hey everyone, today i treated my self and bought a brand new buck 119 special 6" hunter. Looks to be right up there with what im looking for in both a good outdoor's knife and maybe even throwing it in the wall case for display it should be here friday or SAT depending. So who else here has this knife ? Any thoughts i hear great things about BUCK knives. Also any other BUCKS i should look into ?

I'm a huge 110 fan, however, often carry a Vanguard, their toothpick or a canoe from them.

All around, they are my favorite blade company now and offer a lot of options. Look around and I'm sure you can find many options for your money:D

Again, welcome aboard!

Congrats you are now addicted. For the rest of your life, Buck knives is all you see when you close your eyes.

My Buck collection certainly isn't the size of some around here... but there's some great knives to be had in the Buck line up...

There's a few 110s missing... but you've got large folders, medium sized folders, slipjoints, and, though I don't have any unless the Hartsook counts, even tactical knives.

And if you want something a little classier, there's special models:

Pardon the Benchmade...

Beyond that, there's the Custom Shop...

Great knives all the way around, and their customer service is among the best in the business.

Enjoy.

I have the following....119 Special, 120 General, 180 Crosslock in Advantage Camo, 426 Bucklite in olive, and a 186. Kinda hard to pick a favorite, probably the 426 since i carry it everywhere... with exceptions, gov't buildings, schools, etc.

this is more of a fun to own and use on occasion type for me due to i dont hunt as of now (will be next season) because im only 17 and dont feel like having to have my gun put in someone else's name so once that happens i think this will be my main go to skinner if i dont throw it in the case for display because its a very shinney nice looker its not one of those carry everywere you do types

Nick,

Welcome to the forum and to the all consuming quest for your next Buck.
The dangerous question you ask of what other Bucks you should look into is very subjective and up to personal taste and is manifold.

My ideas:
The 110 of course
111-snazzier 110
little brother 112
500 Duke(discontinued-pick up on the bay)
Vantage series(choice depends on steel and scale preference)
Alpha Hunter
Kalinga folder
444 Bucklite-again the bay
and 301 Stockman-various scale material available(I prefer big folders but didnt want to tick 300bucks off:D)

With the exception of the bucklite-all have scale options either from the factory or customized elsewere that make them very displayable

Hey Nick!
Congrats on the new BUCK 119 !
My first fixed BUCK and I still have it....from the summer of '77 no less. Works great and still displays great too!
I hope you are still chirping about yours in 33 years!
Welcome to the Family!

Good choice Nick! I've owed quite a few 119s, and had close to 70 of them at one time. I always keep at least 1 with me when hunting

Here's a few customs:

Scott, I really like your knives, especially the 119 on the top with white handles.

Nick, the 119 is a great choice. I do own an older one. My favorite (by far) is the 110 folding hunter, you can get that a Walmart for <$30.

o yea it will be a truly great all around for me actually my first hunting fixed blade

I dont own a fixed blade knife (besides in the kitchen) but i will soon

Im taking notes on all the BUCKS i want to buy that i see here.

So far I want to get another 110, a 119 and a Vantage Pro. I just started the list two hours ago.

That will break off the tip...but many here have ground the snapped-off tip to a very nice looking profile...:thumbup:

Yes...Once you have a 119, you won't be able to live without a Buck 120...You can still find them online for under $65 (IIRC)...and Cabelas has a 120 for less than that, although it has their logo in 6 inch high letters on it...

And many have sent them back to Buck and gotten a new blade free (at least on the 110s).

;)

BTW......has anybody polished the Cabela's markings off those 120s? And if so will it look exactly the same as a NON-Cabela's 120??
