Just Bought My First CRK

Well after reading all of the posts regarding the quality of Chris' knives and what wonderful individuals he and his wife are, I broke down and bought my first CRK. I don't mind saying that I am afraid of how much I will like this knife when I get it as it appears to be a very expensive addiction. While I believe that I got a good deal at $275, I don't think that I will be so lucky with future purchases. I have attached pics of the knife which is a Mnandi with Tamboti inlay. While I have read up on the Mnandi a good bit I would greatly appreciate any feedback regarding anything in particular that I should expect with the Mnandi. I would also like to know if I should expect anything different with regard to feel and sharpness with the S30V blade compared to BG 42 steel. Thanks.

Way to go mezeno!
I was looking at that particular knife, what a deal.

I have a few CRKs now and only recently acquired my first one.
I have a Large BG-42 Sebenza and others in S30V. I sharpen them using DMT continuous stones and polish on a leather strop. I have found that they both can be made to whittle hair with time and patience although BG-42 is a bit faster to attain the same level of sharpness.

Congrats on that knife!

All right, you're in the same boat I'm in. I just bought my first Mnandi and waiting delivery. I know how you feel. ;)

Count me in on the first Mnandi party boat - picked up a used one that should be here Monday :D

I know how excited both you guys are!

Use em in good health!!!

It looks like we are going to have a good group of newbies. :D Mine should arrive by Thursday. I will try and give my thoughts then.

Saw that one over on the sale forum, glad you beat me to it!
Now my wallet can relax momentarily. haha

Congrats!
Have yet to add a Mnandi to the collection.

Well I just received my Mnandi, and WOW! :thumbup:This knife is incredible. I have never experienced this much knife in such a small package. I was more than a bit surprised with how much blade you get given the overall size and weight of the knife. It is definitely a knife that I will be proud to carry on any occasion. I have posted some pictures for review. I apologize for the quality as they came from my iphone. I do have one question regarding the lock up. It feels perfect and doesn't move at all, but I wanted opinions regarding whether or not it looks like it is within specs. Thanks.

It looks pretty much like mine. It's new also. I would say something around 60 to 70 percent engagement. The light weight is remarkable, isn't it? It's the first thing that struck me.

"You've taken your first steps into a larger world." :)

Congrats on your purchase. As OCD as I am, it takes a lot to hook me on a given knife for over eight years, and CRK did just that. I think there might just be some OCD'ness going on in Idaho too.

Professor.

Lock bar looks fine.

Congrats on your first CRK! :)
