Just put my name on a knife made by DM Knives. A pretty sharp looking (no pun intended) folder he had for sale in the Exchange. Since this isn't a production knife, but I didn't have it made to order, would this qualify as a "custom" knife or just a "non-production" knife?

Thanks- steve

You'll get many different answers to this question.

To me, it's a custom. To others, it won't be. Personally, who cares as long as you like it?

IMO it's a handmade knife. Only knives that are tailor-made according to your specs are real customs.

Just my $0.02.

Good points, good points. Guess that would make it a non-production. Still something to feel good about, right?

You can call it a custom if you want to. I would. Yeah, it wasn't made to your specs, but it was handmade to the maker's. Call it what you like, it's yours.

And no matter what you call it, it is a very fine looking piece. If you are happy with it, then all is right in the knife world.
