Looking forward to it coming in, anyone know how old? Not sure if the sheath is original but it seems period to the knife, would be cool if the snap said Estwing.

Definitely a very cool little knife. I've never seen one before, so it's not common at all. The handle andsheath is 1950's style, if not a little earlier. Is there any embossed figure on the sheath?

When I was a kid, three out of four belt knives had stacked leather handles.

I'll have better pictures once it comes in in the mail, I've seen print ads through doing my research this morning dating it around 1930, might be slightly earlier as Estwing was founded in the mid to late 20s. Might be later as they might have made the knife for a number of years.

This is a new one to me to. Very sweet. I have an Estwing stacked leather hatchet and hammer in my garage.

That's what I was gonna say... The style of knife, sheath and stampings screams "1950s" to me.

I found this print ad while doing research. It at least has the potential to be from the time represented in the ad.

It also looks like they transitioned to a birds head pommel in this field and stream ad from the 1960s.

The sheath appears to me as correct. My brother inherited our dad's Estwing stacked leather knife, and your sheath looks much like his. However, his has an aluminum pommel, like the Western L36. I also have Estwing's hatchet (newer without nail notch) and a finishing hammer...both with leather stacked handle. Good catch...you don't see them pop up often.
