Man its been a while since I posted. Long time. But just wanted to share that I just purchased two CQC-7BW. My Son and I both do martial arts training and for the past week we have been getting lessons in some down and dirty knife defense. The knife defense we have been learning put a whole new perspective on deciding the right knife to carry, deploy, use, defense, emergency use, etc. This time my/our decision was based on something other than just owning something cool. Anyway after much research and listening to our instructors opinion on a knife/knives, why we should carry, etc, we decided on the Emerson. I used to own the titanium version long ago of the Emerson CQC7 and actually sold it here on BF years ago. I am glad to be buying the Emerson again. I now have my Son in the Emerson family. Hopefully we will never have to use them in anger. Just wanted to share. Thanks all and take care.

Train hard,be safe, and I pray you never need to use them for their intended purpose.
As OM said, please share some of your deciding factors?!

Hey all. We got our knives. Awesome. Emerson have not skipped a beat after all these years. Excellent quality. Just amazing.

Quick background we practice Krav Maga. Very down and dirty practical, brutal defense/fighting. So are the knife defenses and attacks. OK let me share my thoughts that I explained to my Son. Remember I had CQC 7 years ago and I cannot forget how awesome it was. Back then I was using it as a EDC and I used it for everything. Never thought of it as a defensive tool.

Three main reasons I picked this knife based on our martial art practice.

G-10 scales and shape of the handle. Great grip and feel in the hand. No matter how it is held. Once we got them my Son had a chance to get the "feel" he totally agreed. We practiced the multiple moves, very slowly obviously, to get a better feel of the new knives. I think i might have spend the money and get the trainers.

Tanto blade. Obviously for penetration. My Son got a better understanding of the Tanto blade and its practicality.

Wave. Quick deployment pulling out of the pocket. Funny... I didn't even show my Son how to do it. I just explained it to him what the wave was for any he quickly figured it out. He immediately saw the value of the wave. He is a young warrior.

To cncpro11,
We will train hard. We also pray never that we never find ourselves in a situation that we have to use them. One thing I have learned doing Krav Maga is everyone gets hit in a fight. Everyone gets cut in a knife fight. I don't have to tell anyone on this forum a knife fight is a up close and personal experience. I wish this on NO ONE!

Also let me say that there are plenty of other knives out there. This is not the end all be all knife. But for me and my Son, this is the knife I decided on, and I think I did good. My Son thinks so.

Gentlemen. Take care all! Be safe and thank you for taking the time to read my post. Much respect to all!
