I traded a couple of traditional folders and a little cash for this George Muller. I've been wanting a pearl handle knife and this one fit the bill.

Do any of you know anything about this maker?

Yeah, he lives in Heidelberg, South Africa, is a full time knifemaker and is a member of the Knifemakers Guild of South Africa. There's a knife just like this one on eBay that has a Buy It Now price of $650, which is more than I have in this one.

I guess I should have added that the blade is Swedish Damasteel as are the dovetailed bolsters and back spacer. The scales are AAA Mother of Pearl with red micarta spacer to protect the MOP (that's what I was told anyway.) The liner is anodized Ti. The knife has file work on the blade, back spacer and liner. I traded with a guy who looked a bit like a hustler--in his 60's with a jet black ducktail and a pair of serious Elvis sideburns-- but was a great guy to work with. I didn't catch his name but I imagine some of you know who I'm talking about; he's hard to miss.

I was thinking I might sell this knife pretty soon to move into something else but if no one knows the maker, it might become my edc. I hate to buy knives I don't use...

Thanks.

That one looks like a keeper to me Slim. I'd try to see if it grows on you before deciding to sell it. The maker, though new to me, seems to be at the top of his form. It all depends on how it feels to you though. I'll admit this though, I've had knives from more recognizable makers ( here in the US anyhow) that weren't as nice by a long shot. My opinion, Regards, Joe

BTW, Damasteel should be a real nice cutting knife, with looks to match.

yeah that baby is awesome, and this isnt even my style of knife, its just plain awesome!
