If this is posted in the wrong place (I apologize in advance). I have never ordered a custom knife until recently (little over a month ago), and I haven't received it as of yet. No worries, I figured it would take a bit. However, I was watching a YouTube video yesterday and someone was interviewing the maker I ordered from while they were at Blade Show Texas. While talking to the maker and looking over what they had available to sell, I saw the exact knife I ordered sitting on the table for sale.

My pondering is this, the maker has a bunch of different knife models for sale on their website and a large majority of them are listed as not currently available. The model i ordered said it was available, and after doing a ton of research, I selected my options and placed my order. If the model i ordered was available to purchase on the web and the maker took the very thing i to ordered Blade Show, why am I still waiting on mine to arrive?

Granted I'm sure makers want to take available and varied models to Blade shows, but I already paid for mine, so...

Any 1st hand or useful information/perspective would be greatly appreciated. Thx folks.

It's possible, maybe even likely, that they already had this knife set for Bladeshow before you even put in your order. You haven't given an idea of how much demand they deal with our how large the company is, but one month does not seem like too much time. But even if not, they have no real obligation to prioritize you over a show. It would be nice for them to do that, but did they promise the knife within a certain time frame?

They didn't give an exact time. You make a valid point, didn't think that maybe they already had the one I saw made prior to my order and ear marked it for the show. My 1st go in this area. I didnt list the maker or size of the outfit as i am not trying to chastise, just curious about how these things might go. I do appreciate your input.

Also, was it for sale or was it for display? Occasionally, a maker will have a sold model out for display before it gets shipped off, but not for sale or aggressively handling. It's basically there to show off their work and give people an idea of cost.

The interviewer asked the maker what all they had for sale, the maker showed a vast array of knives for sale-the model i ordered was on display (they had 5 or 6 of the same model with different options on them). They did show 3 models the maker said we're new and only for display, but everything else on the table was for sale.

Ok, then I'd definitely drop him a note or give him a call just to let him know that you purchased and are waiting for one exactly like it.
