When a knife on the exchange sells, I think it would be nice if all the, "I received your payment, "I received the knife" etc.. follow up postings to the for sale thread were done via PM or email whenever possible  I have re-checked several knives that I missed out on because of updates to a sold knife which bring them back to the top. Just sayin' maybe it would help free up space  What say ye?

Yes, it would be nice. It would also be nice if one of the mods moved this to the right forum. :)

I moved it for you, no worries.
All communication beyond the initial I'll take it, should be done via email/PM or in the GBU

When a for sale thread has outlived it's usefulness ie all the knives have sold, the original posted can lock the thread (using the advanced option). I believe this is true for all levels of paying members, but I may be wrong, it might just be for gold and platinum members. The seller can always edit his or her original post to state if a payment has been received or a knife has shipped. Posts like you describe are on the verge of the chat side since the knife is already sold and the thread is not doing anything but being run to the top. I agree that those sorts of things should be do through email, pm or as a non bumping edit to the original post. Check the chatting rule in the exchange, there may have already been some comment on these sort of things there, I can't recall.

I'm OK with updates on the sale, especially if there are people in line for seconds. I do appreciate when the first post is clearly amended to show which items are sold. I hate when an old thread isn't marked sold - should you chase down a 2-month old item only to find out it's gone? Although it's probably more fair for others with sale threads if you conduct your business in private. Once you've posted "I'll take it", it's pretty much yours, and you can hash out the details in private.

Agreed with the updates.

I'm guilty of not updating, but I'm gettin better.

What I don't understand are the people who get nasty when you send an inquiry about the status of an item they didn't update from weeks or months back. Actually had one person ask if I was really that stupid to think the item was still available after all that time.

Oh well....
