Just curious how many ladies are forumites?

Just a strange thought that popped into my head. If this topic gets buried I'll assume that there aren't any.

You should probably include women in general, not just ladies, or you're limiting your possible responses.

I'd be interested in this, as well. I know us males tend to be the majority in these forums, but I, for one, am glad to see that we do have a few women here. Too bad most women I talk to have that ever-popular sheeple mindset. I feel better knowing that you haven't all been brainwashed, and the future may be even better, as old prejudices evaporate.

Don't know how many women, but there is at least one lady--Donna Barnas, Moderator on the FCA forum.

Yeah my wife was always saying I spend all my time talking with those GUYS about knives and I thought well urely there are women in our forum although I honestly couldn't think of any so I thought I'd ask.

Yep!!

I know it may be a bit confusing but, This is Audra Draper ( a Woman/lady whatever! ) I am the wife of Mike Draper, I just use Mike's name, cuz it's fun!!! I always sign Audra at the end of my posts. .So, if you are wondering? Yeh, I'm lurking here every once in a while.
I am a knife maker, and of the makers whom know me they all just consider me one of the guys. No brain washing going on, No sheeple here, I can hunt fish and shoot with the best and as for fear of knives, Hah,, I laugh in the face of Danger! Besides, That didn't hurt! (Speaking of the last knife knife that bit me!) If you hit the nerves just right there is no pain at all! I don't know of a lot of Gals out there but there was one from Blade that I know of by the name of Blade gal. Well, come on Gals!
I feel so out numbered! Audra Draper

See I knew there had to be at least one at there

Right here! Been collecting for about 10 years now.. don't know any other young urban female knife knuts but I've been trying to spread the good word around to my friends (my roommate now wants a small sebenza more than anything)!
Oh, and Audra, you rock.

I'd love to see more women get involved here and with knives in general. Women's involvement in hunting, fishing, archery etc. has been growing at a pretty fair clip, but as is evidenced by BF, knife-knutism is a pretty testosterone-laden world.

BTW, whatever happened to Silverwing (I think that was her handle.) Her posts were always pretty lively. She was a computer whizbang as I remember who had a great enthusiasm for knives.

Hoodoo

The low, hoarse purr of the whirling stone—the light-press’d blade,
Diffusing, dropping, sideways-darting, in tiny showers of gold,
Sparkles from the wheel.

Walt Whitman

Thanks for remembering me Audra! I would be willing to guess that there are more ladies out there lurking than we would expect. Congrats again Audra - for reaching new heights as a woman in the knife industry.

All right Alex! Start 'em off young, and they'll grow up wondering at folks who say things like, "Ooh, I could never carry a knife around, they're sharp" or "You have a knife? But you're not a psycho!"

I saw a man in a shop this weekend who was letting his two young daughters decide which multi-tool they liked out of the selection in the case. They handled the tools well, opening the blades without overreacting to the sharp edges, and displayed none of the hesitation or distaste that I see in some of my (college-aged!) friends. Made me smile.
