#1 - When did the transition from the "Steel Heart Ergo" logo to the "HHFSH" logo occur on the Busse line? Post 2004 is my guess based on the photo's and info on the HogCult and "The Busse Collector" websites.

#2 - What's the story behind the "Heavy Heart" name and was this blade chosen for the company's flagship design and logo for a special reason (Other than it LOOKS AWESOME:thumbup:)?

Hey, ya never know...they could end up as trivial pursuit questions.:D

The ergo logo was replaced mid run on the Fusion Steel Hearts, as much as my contact cement addled brain does remember, not sure of the date. I have one FSH with the ergo logo and one with the fusion logo.

The logo is patterned off of the original Fusion Steel Heart prototype's that were used by the test teams. This was before the Heavy Heart was a gleam in Jerry's eye. Its rumored that the Heavy Heart was based on that test team prototype. And no, you cant find one of those test team knives for sale, they were supposed to either go back to Busse or kept in hand, none in circulation. Though one snuck out a while back, but it made it back to the shop.

THANKS LEATHERMAN!!!

So the "Heavy" part of the moniker was due to the extra thickness and saber grind along the spine adding a bit of extra weight to the standard FSH?

Anyone have pics of the Proto's and do they differ at all from the production HHFSH?

Hey, based on my researches the current Busse logo is a FSH with Saber grind. FSH's standard thickness is 0.25'' and HHFSH is 0.27''. Most FSH today or a lot of what I seen are flat grinds. I think the HHFSH have two kinds of grind either Flat or Saber (a total of only 200? or 400? HHFSH were made). Anywayz, the current FSH has a Saber grind it is not necessarily a HHFSH. Hopefully that helped.

The Busse logo is the Heavy Heart. Hero is correct when he said that the standard FSH's were 0.25" and the HH's were 0.27", but the HH's only had saber grinds. The FSH's that have flat grinds and are 0.27" are not HH's, they're just thicker versions of the standard FSH. I think this had been discussed before and I'll try to dig up a link...

ETA: Some links on this subject. There are others but I think these answer some of the OP's questions.
