Just Curious...what happened...any thoughts

This is a moot point since the knife has sold and I don't have any others, but I'm very curious why this new in box mint CUDA Dominator I just sold brought such a low price.

Here is the link to the ENDED ebay auction: (Link removed. I did not intend to advertise myself as a seller.)

I recently sold some CUDA Maxx's (5.5 plain edge) and all commanded $300 or better. I expected to do at least $250 on this CUDA Dominator and as you can see I didn't even get half that. I looked at the listing earlier today, before the auction closed, and it had over 12,000 hits, but still only about 20 watchers. That seemed strange to me, but I figured the last minute bidding would take the price north of $200 at least.

Any ideas why this one sold for so little? I was under the impression these were highly in demand, similar to the CUDA Maxx. The only thing I can think of is the combo edge isnt' as popular as the plain edge.

I'm just curious what insights others may offer, and I thought this might be an interesting discussion topic. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

The problem certainly wasn't the knife. Getting 13,600 hits shows lots of interest. I have had that happen to me a few times and always blame myself. Either a poor ending time or day, nice weather when no one is at home to bid.
Lots of reasons, but Summer time auctions are a roll of the dice and just think about the guy on the receiving end that got a good deal.:)

Or, the knife just isn't in the demand a few overpaying buyers think it is. Much like Beckers.

Oh I know, you win some and you lose some. I just thought it was very curious and there might be some factor that had eluded me.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, I won that one! I was expecting a major bidding war on that one as well. What a deal since I paid 2x that for the same one one last week. Makes me wonder too!

Well congrats Whitedogg! I don't begrudge it a bit -- overall I've done very well on the CUDA's I've sold. It was just such a head scratcher, even when taking "You win some, you lose some" into account. I thought someone might be able to explain what happened, but it looks like just one of those things. In any case you're getting one heck of a nice knife, and I hope you enjoy it.

Regards,

Jim

Maybe people don't want the serrated edge. I wouldn't want it.

That occurred to me too. I know from selling other models that plain edge is in much more demand than combo edge, and I prefer plain edge myself. My guess is this was most likely a factor.

I'm thinking the CE was a very big factor. That's a great price it sold for tho.

BTW, I love my Heat that I picked up from you thru ebay.

Some nights people are bidding, other nights it's dead. Some of my best buys are just because nobody else bids, other nights the same item will be hot.
