It seems to me that very little is said about the Spyderco Police. I was wondering if those who own the Police model might want to post a comment about this specialized knife....thx

I have two (both stainless handles). One is a plain edge ATS-55 from a while back and the other is full serrated (VG-10 I think). I love them. Super thin in the pocket, easy to open, and they get the job DONE. I don't care for the G-10 Police (looks too much like an endura). Also, if you are super picky about blade play in all directions, any Spyderco lockback with stainless handles isn't for you. Thin is in. Or I hope it makes a comeback because as much as I like my PMs, they are thicker and, in my opinion, not as comfy in the pocket.

I've had a serrated Police for 11 years now. Still carry it once in a while, but its a little big for my taste now. Great knife, hardly ever needs sharpening with the VG-10 and serrations (even after lots of cutting). Carries very slim for a big blade. Only wish it was tip up carry (my preference). The stainless handles look great but also get slick and transfer heat and cold a little too well. My serrated Endura gets a lot more pocket time. Same blade steel but has a more comfortable handle, is lighter, and has more carry options. The Endura is a bit cheaper too. Just my opinion since you asked :)

Police Model? I haz one.

My big problem with the C07 is the blade is over the legal length here in Kansas, so I only have a couple I can carry legally (tips reground to 4" or less). Other than that, I still don't know just how many subtle variations have been produced over the years. I'm certain I have less than half of what's available.

That's quite an impressive collection you have there, Yab; it appears you like the form and function of the Police series. I recently added one to my EDC collection (stainless scales with fully serrated blade), and my first impression is a well built, full blade EDC with excellent serrations...

My opinion, for what that's worth in the scheme of things, is that Spyderco makes perhaps the best serration designs in the industry -- aggressive yet functional under most often used situations and conditions. Just putting something called serrations on a knife edge that looks like it is useful, is not good enough. Spyderco did their homework and now produce fully serrated blades that are damn near perfect, even though their design has changed over the years and are 'knife dependent'...

Just going along 'as usual' is not a good philosophy for an industry leader. Research, improving designs, applying the changes, and then offering them to a knowledgable buying public, sets Spyderco (and a handful of others) way above the curve for quality products. Thanks Spyderco...

I wouldn't be losing much, just getting bored if I had to carry the current version P3 for the rest of my life.

It's got everything I like, and really need in all fairness. It's one of a mere handful I bought a "pre_need replacement" as Jack has named it. I like the blade length, action and strength of the lock, the grip materials, and the grip feel for my XXL ( almost XXXL) hands.

Of course the FFG VG10 blade is everything I need despite being a steel junky. I have really learned to respect Takefu's VG10 the way it's heat treated and finish ground by Spyderco.

From small, detail work to hard use it does fine.

Joe
