I had this knife for a few day now and was having such hard time trying to use the assist. My thumb could not take it anymore.I like everything about this knife except the assist part. Now that I have removed the torsion bar the blade pops out so smooth. I have read others have done the same thing and now I know why.

The problem is that it's far too short to allow
proper leverage to work its Assist function.
Imo, it doesn't make much sense having assist
On something this small...
Other than that, it's a great knife!

Well congrats on finding what works for you! Like I posted in your other thread on the Heiho, I don't have a problem with the assist on it. I did have big problem with the hissatsu folder though. That thing was impossible to open but it was great once the torsion bar was removed. CRKT has some great ideas sometimes, the execution though is often not up to par.

craytab, I had to do it.My thumb went raw trying to open it. Believe me I tried to make it work. Now it is prefect.Love the knife now.

I had a time with mine also. Finally took it apart and bent the lock arm out a little. Made a huge difference! Mine was locking up at about 90%. I bent it back to about 50% and I also polished the crap it off all the parts that made contact. Really smooth now.

I tried hard to make the assist work on mine. Thumb was so raw. Great knife deassisted. Not the most useful blade shape but very good fit and finish for the price.

Hi guys,

I have a new Heiho coming in the mail... very excited about it. I'm thinking about de-assisting it, if I don't like the assist. I haven't found a whole lot online about how to do this. Anyone care to give a quick tutorial?

Thanks.

Its always cool to try some exploration on your own how the whole thing work.
