Couldn't tell it from the pic on the Bay......but this is basically a new knife.

I took a chance. Seems to be a 1962 or 63 102.

I can't find a mark on the knife or the sheath, not a scratch, not a nick, not a dent, not a spot......just new condition.

I'm still shaking my head over this one.

(But I'm really happy.) In fact......I'm laughing.

I have one of those, but with a little more steel taken off the edge. Mine is a barrel nut, is yours?

No, I never see barrel-nuts on the Bay and I don't own a single one.

They must be getting scarce.

I used to use these a lot. They're actually big enough for most any normal hunting and fishing task.

But then I discovered the 121s and the later, heavier-bladed 121 is what I tend to carry when outdoorsing now.

I actually use my 102s for cutting fruits and vegetables when camping or hiking. I like a slightly larger, heavier blade for the other stuff.

:D Sweet,I guess it's even better than you thought. That sheath looks like it never hung on a belt!

Yeah, looks good for being close to 50 years old. It's actually WAY better than I thought. It has no number at all stamped on the back. The belt loop is a little thinner than the newer ones. Otherwise, pretty much like the newer ones.

Wherever it was stored must have been a good environment. I put a little Mink Oil at all the flex points, but they didn't look like they had ever been flexed and the leather was not dried out at all. I just gave it a light touch.

Kinda nice when something from e-Bay turns out better than expected.

looks like a fake to me:eek:.....(my jealousy lashing out)......no man, good find, and congrats you lucky son of a gun:thumbup: thats a beauty

did someones grandma buy that thing and put it in her top dresser drawer for all these years or what?

I don't know.

But whatever they did, I'm sure glad they did it.

:)

Fake? Yeah......it did occur to me to look for a "China" sticker someplace.......it looks so perfectly new.

:)

BG, very very nice Buck knives you got there... 102 is one great knife... Way to go....

It doesn't show in the pic, but the blade has a real bright finish.....not mirror, but much smoother and more reflective than the current satin.

No room for improvement.

;)

VERY nice. Those 102's are a nice handy size and that one looks GREAT as does the sheath.

Congrats!

Peter

Well, this stroke of good fortune may have created a bigger problem.

Now how do I find a One-Liner 103, 105, 116, 118, 119, 120 and 121 in the same perfect condition so I'll have a real collection?

I have my life work cut out for me.

:D

Thanks......once in a lifetime, I think. Almost didn't bid on it.

And......after telling Wolf earlier that I never see barrel-nut Bucks on the Bay--I just saw one!!

But I can already see that it won't be a bargain for anybody.

nice one liner:thumbup: Almost as good as "whats a knice nife like you doing in a bay like this?:p:foot::eek:

Exactly!

It was kind of like......open the package......look at the knife, look at the sheath.......and say......"This can't be right."

:D
