Just discovered these knives

I have been a member here since 2006 but have not posted much. I was browsing thru here today and and started checking on the ESEE knives. I love the looks of these knives. I am going to get either the ESEE-3 or -4. It is going to take me a couple of months to get one since my wife cleaned me out and left on the last deployment, but I will have one. Out of the two I mentioned, which one would be better to get for just general bush use?

The general consensus is that the "4" is the best all around bush knife.

Sorry to hear about the wife situation...

The ESEE4 is a thicker blade, something to consider if you are rough on your blades. The ESEE3 is no slouch either, but it's thinner and is better for finer work.

The sheaths are different materials to, something else to take into consideration with whatever your preference is.
 
The 3's are great if weight is a concern (e.g. long-distance backpacking):

The 4 is much more substantial -- so if weight is not a big concern, take a 4 and beat the hell out of it:

The ESEE-4 one knife for all mankind! It does everything a knife should be able to do.
