Well, I'm a jobless 18 y/o going to comm. college and already have a costly computer building hobby. That said, money is hard to come by when it comes to other interests. My last knife purchase was a Bradley Kimura balisong, which is a ton of fun and a great EDC (open carry is legal in my state) - but hardly anything I'd want to take camping to do any real work with. I've been eying the BK-2 for awhile now and recently got a $50 rebate back from a netbook purchase a few months ago. Decided why the hell not? :p

So I dropped some cash on a Becker BK-2 from tomarskabars.com, and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Hope I get to go camping some time soon this summer so I can test it out. Perhaps a few owners can chime in about it so that I don't suddenly get buyer's remorse :o

Don't worry, be happy. I have one of the old Camillus ones that I haven't used (have not used my Brute or Necker either). However, the 2 is always suggested as one of the great camp knives of all time - just the right size. Stick a SAK in your pocket and your 2on your belt and take off.

I got the KaBar Becker BK-2 about a month ago and I am totally satisfied with it. All the reviews I read prior to buying it were positive and raved about it. And when I took it up north camping a couple weeks ago, it worked beautifully for everything from fire-building to cutting rope and everything in between. I haven't put it to really hard use yet but I doubt that this beast can't handle it. Trust me, once you get it in hand, it will all come into perspective. I also have a Buck 119 Special which I was totally satisfied with (great for the $$$ BTW), but the BK-2 is in another league. Money well spent IMHO.

I ordered a BK2 and it should be here this week. I have no worries about being happy with the knife. Good steel, blade shape, THICK, and will destroy everything in its path.

You'll be hard pressed to find someone that says a BK2 is a bad buy.

Don't feel remorseful old bean, you got a superior blade heading your way.

For the money, the BK-2 is one of the best buys going, once you hold it in your tender mitts you will understand. It is a very versatile knife.

Thanks for all the input guys! I'm sure I'll love the knife... I always just seem to have that bit of remorse during that waiting period. Why only real question is if any of you owners find the 5.5" long blade limiting at all?

Not really, the only real reason to want a longer blade would be to chop with. You can do a bit of chopping with a BK-2, just not really heavy stuff. It will baton like a dream though, so that makes up for it's few shortcomings.

The Becker Companion's are great. MOF, I know a few soldiers using them over in the ol' sandbox. Methinks you'll definitely be happy.

Got mine this afternoon...

You'll like it! :D

Congrats RMC!

OP- your reassurance will come as soon as you put it in your hand. And especially after you use it for the first time. You'll wonder why it didnt cost $165.
