I've got a weekend camping trip coming up and just up until I got bored here at the office and started looking at pics of Beckers on this forum (I hate you guys, I hope you know that :D) I thought I was good to go. Well, obviously my $80 needs to be spent on a new Becker!

I recently purged my knife collection down to just a few bare essentials and am slowly building it back up. Just so you don't think this is purely an impulse purchase, I do plan to add a Becker (or 12) back to the collection anyway so may as well start now eh?!

So where to start? My wife has a little Cold Steel Roach Belly (she's tiny and so are her hands) she uses for our camp food prep chores so that's pretty well sorted. I have my Junglas for splitting wood or whatever, scaring other campers, you know. I also have a BHK Woodsman Pro coming to me shortly which I plan to use for my main general purpose knife and my Izula is always around my neck.

I'm really wanting to get another BK-2 just because it's freaking awesome sauce and I'm really liking the BK-5 because I love the old French trade pattern blades. I like the tweeners too, though. What do you guys think? Given what I've already got, if you could have, say two, which would you get and which one first??

Cliffs: 80 smackers to spend, want a BK-2 and maybe a 5. Which to get first??

A 2 shouldn't cost you 80. If you're going to get a 2, get a 14 as well. The 5 is fantastic. Love that blade. 9 is a good buy also, although you've got the Junglas. Oh, and the 10. And all the tweeners. Yeah.

I'd probably go for a tweener or the 5, in your place. You got the big knife covered, so the tweener would probably be your best bet.

Forgot to mention I'll have to get the micarta with them too so that ups the price some.

Anybody got any pics of the 5 and the 15 to compare?

You've got the big knife covered with the Junglas, and various assortments of small knives.

I vote BK4 Machax. I'd take that over a BK2.

BK5 or BK2 are solid choices though. Really you can't go wrong with any of them.

That's the 5 on top. Amazingly well balanced knife...

Honestly, you have a Junglas, which will handle all the big chores. I'd grab a BK16 for handling just about every other chore around camp, aside from wood splitting.

I love my BK2 and won't get rid of it, but would rather use a BK16 90% of the time. The BK2 can disassemble a lawn mower, though, so keep that in mind in case that's part of your camping plans.

you have a BHK on the way that fills the 4" knife niche but want a tweener or a 5?
how about a 15 -- the shape you like in a handy small package.

Yeah the 15 is looking good right now. Is the sheath ambidextrous? I'm a lefty.

All BK&T sheaths to date are ambidextrous, the 2 and 3 having the hardest to reverse. For the tweener, just put the sheath on your left side and place the knife in the sheath with the spine to your front. Unless you want left handed Scout, then take it as is and put your belt through the MOLLE backing with the butt of the knife facing your left side.

I like the 5, but it just seems too big for what I'd use it for. I do have plans on getting one though.
I really like the 15 as the size seems perfect for my needs!

I have a 14, BK2, and 7 at the moment. I still love my BK2 the best and dont see replacing it anytime soon.
Just an all around fat, chunky, awesome blade!

That flashlight appears to be slightly larger than my Fenix...

Yeah, it's the Cave Flash 1800 lumen model that I got free with my ZT560 order from Knives Emporium when they had a deal. Really nice and bright on strobe. Once I get an AR-15, I might have to mount it on that.

I'm going to say the 15 now, and 2 later. The reasons have already been explained. Thats just what I would do.

Both are great knives but I use my BK15 most often for utility. Although when there have been bears around my neighborhood I always carry my BK5 and G21. :D
