The steel is 1095 with a temperline (clay hardened with a torch). The blade is 4" long with a 4 1/2 long handle. The spacer is mammoth ivory and burl/curly maple. The sheath just kinda came about on its own (the shape and style). All homemade and done by hand. www.homestead.com/hvknives/Latest.html

Nice one BB, I like the leaf-shaped blade and sheath, and the fileworked guard. Keep em coming, I like it!

Another Nordic fan....Your gonna have to work some to top that one. You have a lot of detail in there. I like the whole thing. Blades a good shape, handle is a good overall (and traditional) design, love the filework and the detail in the spacers is perfect. A+++

Very nice indeed. That temper line just pops right out at you, doesn't it! Not a critisism, just curious, but do you find that such a shallow hardened zone is sufficient? My experience is that unless I get at least a third of the blade quenched, they tend to bend fairly easily, especially on thinner stock (1/8" and less.)

Thanks for the great replies. Now that you said Peter it does have a Nordic flavor to it, but I wasnt going for that(but I'm not surprized since I'm Norweigian and German). I designed that style knife on paper using French curves and graph paper. This is last knife I have on my wait list now I get to play. Also as far as bending the blade it is 3/16 thick and pretty stout. I make sure my customers know that its a skinner and not a axe. But I do agree on the thinner stock.
