Hey guys,

Here's a leather sheath I just finished for my backpacking knife. It normally gets carried in it's kydex sheath, clipped on my backpack, but I wanted something more "pants friendly" to carry it more comfortably around the house. Comments/feedback/critiques always welcome!

The small size make it very comfortable even when sitting.

Thanks for looking!

Great looking sheath, I like it lots!! I don't see a thing wrong with it....great work all around in my book.

Maybe....just maybe......it would look better if you stopped the stamping short of the stitch line...but that is only my preference.

Very nicely done! I prefer that kind of belt loop myself. I don't like the metal clips although I understand they are easier to get on/off.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean, and I agree. I wanted to try something different, "stamping-wise" :D

A knifemaker on another forum suggested a little forward cant, in order to avoid the potential ribs-jabbing issue of the handle. Something to keep in mind for the next one!

I really like the way the stamping was done. By not being confined to the stitch line, it has a free flowing look to it that is appealing to me. Nice work.

I need to try a pattern on my leather. What did you use?

Hey Big guy :)

I used a piece of 9" nail, cut to a manageable piece (1.5"?) and embossed with a dremel tool. You can make many different patterns - here's the ones I use:

rjdankert: Thanks - It's growing on me as well :)

I drive my wife crazy carrying it around the house (I live in a urban environment) :D
