Let me know what you think.
Spent A LOT of time on this one, but I think you’ll like it.

Steel is 5160 Spring Steel.

Heat Treatment:
Heated in a forge to approximately 1500 to 1550 degrees Fahrenheit, until blade became nonmagnetic, then quenched in 125 degree quality oil. Tempered the blade to a straw hardness @ 425 degrees for 1 hour, letting it air cool and repeating once more. Blade was file tested and is shown to be very hard.

Finish: Fine satin finished.
Handle: Handle is made of Maple.
Sheath: Sheath is hand stitched out of dark brown gator hide and comes with knife.

Measurements:
Total Length: 12", Blade Length=8", Blade Width=2 ¼”, Blade Thickness= 3/8"
Handle Length: 4", Handle Width: 1 ¼ "

Below are pictures of the finished knife.

Thanks

Very unique. I like it. Only thing I'd change is rounding the handle more but, it still looks good. Thanks for sharing.

Chris, I will say this.... you're definately your own man :D That's a neat knife. I dunno flame I was thinking forkhorn deer :P

Well done! Do you think it would be neat to have the flame on the spine sharpened like a guthook?

Will: Thanks man. I thought you might get a kick out of this. The flame idea came from the pain in my hands after making this! I should take a picture of my hands. I’m right handed and my pointer finger and thumb have 2 cuts each, so I’m basically useless with that hand for now… and not just cuts, one of them is a big fat burn on my thumb that split open like a cut. Ouch! And by the way, wait until you get a load of the next one I’m getting ready to start. It’s going to be 2 blades in one going in the same direction… hard to explain. Man do I love doing this! I hope eventually I can make a good living doing it. I’d be one happy camper.

Keith: As far as sharpening the flame on the spine, I thought about doing that, but I got scared that I would ruin it, if it didn’t work right. Maybe the next knife.

My response above double posted for some reason. Deleted the duplicate here.

Nice looking and unique style blade. I don't think the handle has the same lines/look/theme as the blade though.

WOW.

What shape is the primary bevel?

In some pics I think its a small radius hollow, in others it seems convex...

Brian,
The top part closer to the spine of the bevel is convex, and down toward the edge, it’s more of a radius, going in all sorts of directions (free handed with a 4 inch angle grinder).
