Here they are along with a none spiked carbon hawk for a order..
What do you guys think?
The chain Damascus is the big Oregon cutter chain and the cable was some big stranded 1 1/2 inch cable...

They look great Bruce. The chain one looks like it has flames going away from the edge, and the cable one looks like a lizard skin pattern on the edge. Your stuff always looks great, thanks for sharing the pictures.

Great looking Hawks.
Q: What do you use as a drift to set the eye. I have not found a hawk drift and don't know the dimensions to make it.
Thanks, Ken

Nice Bruce,Thanks for the call and the knife.I've been like a kid with a new toy.Every neighbor for three blocks has seen it and they all love it.Everybody wants to know how you put that pattern in the steel:D

They are nice Bruce ....Yawn >>>>haven't seen you turn out a nice hawk for a while. Thought the lever on your forge may be broken.:D :D
Donna says..Like my Hawks
Much as I like looking at your hawk heads, I like this one better!:D

I'd like to know about your eye drift too Bruce. I made one to fit in my in my anvil but I still have to beat the He!! out of it to get agood hole. They are never clean.

Thanks everybody...Am I getting boring with my work:eek:
I got my drift from Centaur Forge.I have a picture somewhere of the dimensions and shape of a handle that would help out in making your own drift.
Peter are you not using a hot cut first? then drifting out the hole?
I show how to do all this on the video that Chris and me are producing.

Hi,
I tried to order a hawk drift and Centaur Forge has none. They don't know if they ever will. So I guess it is roll my own.
Since I have never seen the inside of a hawk head I haven't a clue on the dimensions or rate of taper.
Thanks, Ken

Nice Hawks, is there a problum with getting the
narrow head staying tight on the handle, how are
you setting the head on the handle, using a press.
Gib

No Bruce, you aren't getting boring, more like amazing! No I don't use a hot cut, I've been drilling a starter hole.:o

Peter,You need to have two starter holes and then hot cut between the two then run your drift through.Or just use the hot cut and cut your starter hole through first then drift it.If you don't have a hot cut you can drill a line of small holes the lenght you want and then open the webs to make a long slot almost like you would a guard hole then run your drift through.

Gib,Since the handle slips through the top it tightens as you use it.I drive them in with a hammer then turn it upside down and take a pipe and slip it over the handle and drive it down with a hammer and it isn't coming off.You can set up a arber press to press them in also.

Guess I need to carve out a set of dies for a press to press some of the drifts out,The ones Centaaur forge had were casted..
Bruce

Bruce, if you are going to build some eye drifts
put me on your waiting list and email me when
available, the one I am using is less than
satisfactroy and I need a good one bad. Thanks Gib

Rade Hawkins said that he should be geting in some more drifts soon.He is out at the moment and so is his supplier but they are trying to get him some more.So keep in touch with him for the drifts and the handles.
I still may try making some but I need to get my press up and running first.
