Finished these up tonight. I use one like the skinners shown when I hunt. Very nice for deer size game. The drop point is something new for me.

The last one is for a friends son who just deployed to the middle east. It is what he requested. I'm still trying to work out a kydex sheath for that one that will be secure.

Any comments or suggestions are always very much appreciated.

Thanks,
SDS

I haven't come up with a name for it yet. I've just been calling it the "Iraq knife".

Before this one was even finished I had orders for four more of them. I have three ground out and enough steel for two more but haven't gotten the last two cut out yet.

This is ground from 3/16" ATS34 steel with 416ss guard. Green canvas micarta handle with stainless Corby type handle bolts and epoxy. Full tang (not tapered) with lanyard holes in the exposed rear. The first 1 to 1 1/2 inches of the top edge is sharpened also. Right now it is in a Blackhawk sheath but the soldier it was made for wants to carry it inverted on the left side of his chest so I'm still working out the Kydex system. When it was done everything was bead blasted to knock the glare off and give the handle good grip.

I'm open to suggestions for a name though.

Thanks for looking,
SDS

Thanks for the comments.

Mike, the bolsters are coming out a lot better since I took your advice and got the pin press. It sure makes life easier.

Cool Hand Luke, someday I'm going to have to sit down with someone and get them to show me how to post pictures like that. I've read a lot of suggestions and directions on how to post them but I just can't seem to get it to work. Thanks for enlarging that one.

I still have to work on cleaning up my grind lines and a few other things but I'm feeling better about my finished products than I did before.

Take care and stay safe,
SDS

The last knife should make a good utility tool here in the desert. Rust is a huge factor on nonstainless knives. Coating them is a good option, unless it stays tied on his IBA or stuffed into a pack. You might consider putting a few eyelets into the kydex, just for the purpose of tying it with 550/paracord.

Deano, I am planning to mill slots as well as have holes in the Kydex sheath so he can use cord or webbing to secure it and I was going to add a TekLok that he can remove or use as he sees fit. I have never been in a combat situation but I figured the knife would see more use for mundane day to day stuff than it would for Hollywood scenes.
