Hi All,
I was going to put a nice ironwood handle and bronze guard on this blade, but I found a small inclusion in the steel while polishing, so I decided to keep it and put a "cheap" handle on it, and use it as a beater knife. :D

This is the first knife I've made with a micarta guard.

Steel: 1095/15n20, about 100 layers

Blade length: 10"

Total length: 15-1/4"

Blade thickness: 1/4"

Guard: black paper micarta

Handle material: osage orange

Pin: bronze

Thanks for looking, and any comments welcome.

I like it a lot. Not real crazy about the handle, but overall, I like it.

that knife there is a little 'outside the box', and interestingly so.
The patterned welds of the steel are beautiful. It's a shame in some ways that there was an imperfection. However, this does afford you an opportunity to beat the hell out of it. In fact, if you'd like any help with that, vis a vis testing, I'd be happy to help you out:D:thumbup:
That looks like a real fun knife, and I'll bet it's one light weight mutha.

Atakach (Andrew) does some really neat oil and flame finishes on osage and gets an almost curly/tiger maple look to it.

Lovely knife, now you win for prettiest shop knife!
