"Wedding Khukuri!"

One of the responses in my announcement thread speculated about the cake cutting potential for a knife knut's wedding. I have been to a wedding where a USMA cadet sabre was used to cut the cake. The groom's father and grandfather both were academy men, and had passed the sword down to their (perhaps disappointing) progeny who was a reserve recruiter.

I'm wondering how a Khuk might be modified to both slice and serve cake with style and grace, while still putting the fear of Bejeebus in anybody who might be tempted to mess with the bride. :grumpy: ;) :D

I'm thinking- start with something sirupati-ish, maybe silver mountings. What else?

I welcome any and all thoughts. There of course won't be time to have such a piece crafted before my imminent, impending nuptials, but we may be doing a service now for future betrothed HIKV sufferers to come. :)

We started the same idea when Brendan was getting ready to get married. He wanted more of a langseax knife. Seems I remember somebody here saying they did cut theirs with a khuk, though...think it was a sirupati, too...:D

You know, the Pen knife would work pretty good.

Better than the Seax, which was my first thought.

Dan I remember that as well and think maybe it was SkagSig40 when he and his bride were married but I can't recall for sure. :grumpy:

I think a prettied up Pen knife would be the best bet, you can even use it's wide flat front end to serve the cake with.:D Maybe have a nice carved wood handle with silver mounts and perhaps some fancy scroll work along a Sword of Shiva and a closed Eye of the Dove cho. And how about the fancy alternating copper and brass inlay like the YCS has? :D
Make it the Official HI Wedding Knife!!!!

Spectre- Cherokee Rose? That's only at a Biker wedding, or if you expect a knife fight at the Reception.

OK guys, we can bandy about different models forever- I'm looking for embellishments and customizations that would make a khuk distinctively and uniquely matrimonial!

Be creative. ;)

Whatever you decide on, it should have an enclosed cho in the form of wedding bells:) . I think a sirupati or maybe even a kobra would be good for cutting the cake, but probably too narrow for effective serving.

Assuming that this will never be used again and might be put in a display case, I would think that some fine engraving or etching would look good.

uncle bill especiale :D

the seaxe would be more preciese then any of the others... but it wouldnt be as talked about later on as an ube :)

A Berk special would have the right shape to make a sweet wedding knife. You could then get the blade etched with the bride and grooms names and the wedding date, plus wedding bells and other related paterns could also be etched onto the blades surface. It could be a spectacular cake knife! ;)

My bride-to-be actually talked about doing this for a time. Her thoughts were something to the effect of a little bit longer Pen-Knife. Carved Horn handle with bells, doves, maybe even the wedding date raised on it. Gold buttplate for her gold band and a silver bolster for my titanium band. Wedding bells where normal scrollwork would be, Date and favorite biblical quote/ personal creedo carved into the blade, and a closed cho shaped like a heart. she's quite the woman;)

If you've got the time to wait....a carved-handle everest katana would be amazing........plenty of room for a "four hand" grip....:D

Hey-and you could serve ten or twelve guests cake simultaneously! Probably save some time on slicing it, too. ;)

Ya know- I should be able to answer that question with five or fewer characters, but I can't. There are quite a few contingencies that need to be nailed down, but we're shooting for mid-August. Many of these things will be ironed out (hopefully) this weekend. :)

Oh....and btw....learn from our mistakes....don't ever make her "iron things out".....or even insinuate it! Just be grateful when it happens....
