And because handles are glueing on, and I`m bored!

I read an article about this quite a few years ago, and it looked like fun. Here is the scenario, the year is 1939, and you are a world traveling adventurer.

What 3 handguns would you pack, 1 for trekking "off the beaten path" (think African jungle), 1 for defense (lots of civil unrest out there), and 1 for concealment (you will be traveling in cities too), and why?

What knives would you pack, and why?

1911 .45.
.38 special for concealment
And a second .45 for backup.
These would cover my bases, I believe.

Knives...a Barlow pocketknife, and a Kabar. That would cover cutting, building, food, fire, etc.

For trekking "off the beaten path" Either a Colt or S&W revolver in .45 Colt
For defense (lots of civil unrest out there), Browning P 35 (Highpower) 9mm ammo would be easier to get worldwide
For concealment (you will be traveling in cities too), Colt Detective Special in .38 SPL

For knives, it would be a machete, Swiss Army, and for a bit of class, a Scagel Bowie

My gun for all three would be a S&W 696 3" .44 spcl.
Knifes would be a Leatherman, a stout 3" folder and a Randall Model 14.

Since it's 1939, that limits choices, like no .44mag.
concealment would be a Colt 1903 pocket pistol in .32ACP
Self defense would be the Browning Hi-power
Off the beaten path in Africa calls for a Webley .455

Knives: Large Stockman, Marbles Ideal, and a Golok or Parang

Off the beaten path a Colt SA45 would be my choice. I would chose a 1911 for defense and a Walther PP for concealment.

Time specific I choose the following,

Trekking it would be the Colt 1911
Self Defense would be the Browning Hi-power
Concealment is the Walter PPK

As for knives, Swiss army for pocket, Machete for the pack and small fixed blade by camillus or some other US manufacturer. Fun game!

A three inch Smith model 629 for Trekking, it is really comfy to carry and has all the power I would need.
A Walther P-88 for defense, worldwide ammo availability and the smoothest action I have ever handled.
A P-88 compact for concealment. Same reasons as above just a smaller package.

As for knives, I would have my Rule #9 of course and a Randall 19-5. The Randall is small enough to carry comfortably and large enough to handle anything I can throw at it.

Do you have a 3" 629 too?
