no banana moon pie? where is your glass bottle of coke with peanuts in it? thats a real southerner's treat! :)

Peanuts in coke??? ok I guess Im still new to the south..through Florida is just an extension of the Midwest. Looks like I have to go buy some moon pies for my RC kit

HAHAHA good one! About 4 years ago, my Mother who is from Kentucky asked me to make her an emergency kit for her car...as a joke I gave her one full of RC Cola and Moon Pies!! :D

we got moon pies in the north too!
i just dont have one with my RAT
I don't think a lot of people will get the reference.:D

LOL, the play on words is that down here "RC" most often refers to RC Cola. The "real redneck" lunch when I spent some time in elementary school down here was a lard sandwich (yes, lard :barf:), an RC Cola and a moon pie. Since I was a foreigner (northerner), I was spared this, and had a grinder (which the southern guys probably don't know what that is), a Coke and a bag of potato chips.

That's a good one. I have not heard that one in a while. I'm from South Carolina. Where I grew up that was a common snack.

RC Cola... oh my... stuff was never good right out of the bottle/can... you had to add the proper amount of Rum to adjust the flavor... :) Moon pies... well there just isn't much you can do there... except consume properly prepared RC Cola first... :)

This thread is just a great example of how much can be learned here aside from knife and survival stuff ...

Having studied translation and literature to a somewhat larger extent, this is just a treat for me. Thanks, DonRearic!

R a C and a Moon Pie...my Granpa started me out on Delaware Punch...couldn't wait till I was "old enough" to order an RC...been a long time...last RC I ordered had a 5" blade.

My Momma is from Letcher County, Kentucky. SAL-LOOT. :D

Lard is nasty. Didn't never have to eat no lard sammich. I've watched many a squirrel unnecessarily fried in a skillet with lard in it. :barf:

When I was growing up, there was always a five pound Maxwell House Coffee can on the back or to the side of the stove filled with bacon grease. Now, you have to make an exception for that stuff at times. :)

AND Crisco, nevermind the Frank Zappaisms that can erupt from a discussion about Crisco...but everyone used that stuff in the 70s and early 80s when I was growing up.

Royal Crown Cola, to me, was always the perfect compromise between the original Coke and Pepsi. Pepsi has a few limited production runs going right now of Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Doctor Pepper, it's called "Throwback" and it's in the older coloration/scheme of cans and has sugar instead of corn syrup in it, too. :)

ha! any time i'm getting a fountain drink, and the stand has coke and pepsi, i mix 'em. it does remind me of rc... around here, dr. pepper is king though. the local wal mart is (or was a couple years ago) the # 1 retailer of the stuff worldwide

anybody else ever bathe from a 5 gallon lard bucket?

When I was living down South for a while in the mid 80s, you couldn't get a damned Dr. Pepper! The only thing I could find was that stankass Mr. Pibb and my Granddad said it was the same thing. :D

Okay, enough with the snacks, any good ole boys like leaf lettuce and onions from the garden, seared with HOT bacon grease:thumbup:Regards Butch

Nope, had wilted lettuce though. Lettuce, onions, bacon and then "wilted" with extremely hot vinegar. :D
