I came home from work and rescued a February edition of Cheaper Than Dirt catalog from the recyling pile. While perusing the goodies, I noticed this "On the Cover" section.....

Nice little write-up about Jerry Busse's INFI knives. Congrates Jerry!!!:D
Could this be the next INFI? What is this a SJ with bevels? Other? Has this knife been released previosly? INFI minds want to know.

As I recall, it is called the Jack Hammer. And, as you state, it is the SJT with CBT, but it also has a clip point.

And can be yours for only, what was it, $3000?

ballpark, that sounds about right.

imo, i was a little disappointed to see the collaberation with baer. although i havent shot one, the ones i have handled had mediocre fit and finish.

wilson combat seems a better collaberation effort.

The Les Baers that I own and the others that I have seen are far superior IMO to Wilson for fit and tightness. In fact, when they are new, they are so tight that you cannot break them open without nudging the end of the barrel (from the business end) back to break them open. Just pulling back to rack a round in the chamber will not happen with a new one. I was in the store looking one over and could not break it open. I asked the guy what the deal was and he showed me. Man, I thought it was locked in some manner but it is just a regular 1911 for heavens sake. They are fit so tightly that I wondered how they would function. That question was answered fairly quickly. I took a new Thunder Ranch (right out of the box without cleaning it) to the range and ran 500 rounds thru it with no failures whatsoever. It loosened up a bit after break in and cleaning/oiling so that you no longer have to nudge the barrel. I agree that they do not spend a great amount of time on the finish and blue but possibly like Busse's, they worry about performance more than cosmetics. They have models that are beautiful in that arena as well but they are very expensive. Baers cost about the same as a Wilson and I chose the Baers. No regrets. Ed Brown makes a fine and beautiful line as well.

My experience is quite the opposite. I had a Wilson and traded it for a Baer. I got the better end of that deal. The Commanche I got was great. My Thunder Ranch Special is one heck of a gun too. I had a problem with the hammer following the slide after several thousand rounds, but I sent it back to Baer and I haven't had a problem with it since. I suspect the mainspring was wekened by proelonger periods of being cocked, but it might have been sear fit. I can't remember if they told me. I had it back in a week.
