I'v been wanting to post something like this for awhile and finally figured this would be the place where it would be appreciated and understood.

Here is this morning's latest on the fire around Yosemite (about 20 miles away, the wind is going the other way).
"MARIPOSA COUNTY – The Ferguson Fire grew by nearly 8,000 acres overnight and is now estimated at 89,633 acres with containment remaining at 35 percent."
It started July 13.
These guys are working a 'dozer line.
Sadly, two others have lost their lives.
Please take a moment...

it typically doesn't pay diddly squat, either. $15 an hour or less. The only saving grace is that there's usually lots of overtime pay.

That can be a downside too though. 20 hour shifts of backbreaking labor while breathing smoke. Bleh.

Just want to thank everyone who acknowledged this post and especially those who took a moment to reply.
As an update, as of 8/18 this fire burned 96,901 acres and is fully contained, although there are numerous spots that continue to smolder.
There is still smoke in the sky in the surrounding area as far as 50 miles away, but of course is nowhere as thick as it once was when it was fairly heavy in Boise approx 500 miles away.
At one time, 3,000 people were involved in the fight.
Again to them, to those who fell a heartfelt and to those who continue to place themselves in harm's way for our protection and safety - Thank You.
OG
