Just got a 761...

The 761 caught my eye in the 2015 catalog. Obviously it stood out amongst it's BM brethren.
M390 was enticing..and this "monolock".
Many of the online reviews lauded the looks but found fault in the detent (or lack thereof), the tip down only clip, and the possibility of weakness due to the super slim profile.

I stopped by my local knife shop to check one out. The purveyor there is a jolly man named Kevin Schlossberg. He handed me a 761 and made me a cash offer price that I couldn't resist.
To top it off it was a first production run, #40 of 1k.
I'm happy to report the detent is just fine, the centering is perfect and I think the slim profile won't be an issue.
Anyone else have any input/experience?

Congratulations!

The 761 is a fine knife for sure. One of the few I've bought doubles of I liked it so much. Like yours mine are perfect and without issue. Really an exceptional knife on many levels.

Enjoy and all the best!

I like mine. I would really like a better pocket clip as the original is tough to work over a thick pocket seam. Smoothest knife I have by far.

I got to handle a 761 while on vacation last week and was extremely impressed with it. If it had been tip-up carry, I likely would have walked out of the store with one. Incredibly smooth and felt great in the hand.

It's on my radar once I find someone who can tap it for tip-up.

I don't mind it being tip down so much..but the clip itself is tough to acclimate to. It can be hard to slip over thick pocket edges. I like the idea of a short clip but maybe they can improve on it in the future.

Will Moon (I think) has a YouTube video where he customized one, making it tip up included.

Never had an issue of tip up or down,,,, maybe that's just me,,, don't care??? Like the clip,,, stays put once on !!! Love mine!!!!

I sanded down the underside of the pocket clip on mine so that the gripping nub has a less severe angle, making it easier to remove from jeans, while still being held securely.

Good idea.
I haven't disassembled mine yet, but I did remove the stud to make sharpening easier.
I put a nice 6k polish on it. M390 was surprisingly easy to cut.

I just purchased one. Its not a fpr. The detent is good. Its very smooth & fast. An excellant knife. I really like it.

I've admired the 761 since I first saw it online...but the initial prices were higher than I was willing to pay for it. I've been tempted a few times since; but other prizes have won the bidding for my dollars.
I haven't seen that Schlossberg guy in a few years; but tentative plans were made a couple nights ago for a repeat run of the Bourbon Trail, so I'll be in town.

Once the day time temps cool off it will be prime bourbon trail weather. Autumn is a popular time for it.

He has one more in store I think..also a first run..ask for the cash deal.

We're thinking late March - too much happening in late Sept thru Nov to make the trip that soon. I think we were there in late February, last time - the weather was all over the place...warm when we got there, and snow on our last day, with storm sirens in the middle.

Ahh I see you're a fair ways outside the Commonwealth.
That variance in weather is a staple of the Ohio valley.

It happens here, as well - minus the storm sirens, that is (but they aren't new to me).
