Just got a BB m390 pm2, but I like the Para3 better...

Just traded a CPK EDC3 for a Bento Box PM2 in m390. This is probably the sharpest Spyderco I have come across. I don't know if it's the steel grain or what, but it is terrifyingly sharp.

Having switched over to the Para3 from my other PM2's though, the size of the PM2 just doesn't do it anymore for me. I like to carry appendix in-waist band. I'm thinking about trading off the PM2 for something more tool like. I was looking at a GM Ace Biblio, and would love to give m390 a spin. Any recommendations?

I also carry iwb , front right side. I m currently carrying a PM2. For me a 3 1/2 inch blade is a good all-purpose edc size. I have only a few 3 inch blades, and don t carry them often. I haven t been interested in the PM3. I have a red handled PM2 which is an outstanding cutter. Good edge retention. Strong enough to do moderately heavy work.

When I have a knife that I like and lose interest in it, I put it up for for a while and usually find that I regain my appreciation for it. My PM2 is currently one of my favorite edc s. If I were you, I would keep the PM2 with m390 steel.

This is how I carry, and have been for a long time. I find that tip-down carry works best, and is the safest way, for this method. However, tip down carry seems to be a real no-no on this forum, as well as elsewhere on the 'net. Go figure.

It's probably one of the most convenient and concealable was to carry a folder, but everyone seems to want to have their knife sticking out with a visible pocket clip so everyone know's "I'm carrying", and of course it must be tip-up. Again, go figure.

Rant over, but I'm with you on this one guys.

It's unwise to belittle the majority of the knife community by insinuating everyone who likes tip up is a douche that wants to flaunt that they are carrying. The #1 reason that I prefer tip up is because clips feel more natural and less hotspotty in my hand being at the rear of the knife, otherwise I'd go clipless.

It’s because if you carry where you carry tip down and the knife comes open, the point is aiming for Mr. Winky. Sit down like that and say goodbye to future children.

Tip up, it would maybe poke or slice your hip. Much, much safer for that carry method.

A bit off topic, but I much prefer right hand tip up carry. not sure tip down carry is any safer. I have it on the right hand side of my pocket so the blade can't open. Then when I get it out it's in a natural position to open it quickly one handed.

Been trying to love the Para3 since it dropped, but it's just too cramped for my hand. Good thing cause it's saved me a bunch of money on Para3 drops :)

Don't know about you, but none of my knives come open unless I want them to. After 20+ years of carrying this way, Mr. Winky ;)is still safe and sound.

There’s two types of people in this world, those that have had a knife come open and those that will.

Pockets & clothing can do some funny things to blades sometimes. I myself have had a few slices from both tip up & tip down blades over the years, lucky for me they’ve all been minor flesh wounds with a shredded pocket or two sprinkled in between.
