Yup, I got bit by the Becker Bug too. First one was a 7 then a 2. I had to have an 11 and a 14 along with several 13’s. I was happy with them as users till I saw what you guys have done to “personalize” yours.

I did not know you could do so many things with the finish till you guys started showing pictures of what you have done. I started stripping the finish off then I saw what mustard would do. You guys started something stirring and now I can’t stop. I have done a forced patina on the 7and like the look. I polished the 11 and reshaped the back of the blade then put on Becker handles. Now I'm working on a Kydex sheath for it.

I had to have a BK-15 and got it yesterday. I thought it looked better with the brown handles till I stripped the finish off and now I think it looks better with the black handles. Now I am stuck waiting on an idea for the next mod.

Have any of you got pictures of what you have done to your 15’s? I’m just looking for ideas. Right now I am leaning toward a polish on the back of the blade and around the handle but I’m stuck after that.

Thanks…

You can mod it by putting a nice light patina on it!
And buying a BK9 to go with it!

LOVE my 15... it has probably been the knife I have messed with the most... I guess I'll take you along and show you all the messing around I have done with it... First day out of the box what seems like forever ago. Moved homes and everything since then. This is going to be a long winded post lol!

First after using, and falling in love LOL, I tried Rit dyeing the brown handles and started refining the edge. Dark green dye.

More edge, use, Left the scales in the dye for 24 hours, distressed them, and they picked up a bit from carry and use. The 15 rode on my hip from the moment it arrived.

Flash forward, got bored, decided to strip the dye from the zytel, and stipped the brown scales! Lots of fun.

THEN! Took the black set and made a some of liners..

Next shot the set of brown stippled liners with black krylon, and sanded a bit...

Then I started playing around with some spray on rubber on the stippled scales (Plastidip) Really liked this stuff.

Finally I have come to how it sits now. I really like this configuration more than anything... (so far LOL)
Stripped and etched logo...

Put my lined scales back on and contoured them with some sandpaper. Also the spine was cleaned up. I didnt bother taking out all of the scratches. Gives it character in my book.

And here is how it sits now. The edge has been convexed too and all that... Love it. Hopefully, next I would like micarta for it, and some liners. Thats at least what I see happening next maybe..... :D

There are some absolutely fantastic 15s out there I hope they get posted up! I really like some of the traditional type mods that have been done with wood/bone or whatever etc etc.

I just stripped mine, added micarta scales and a custom sheath. I probably need to add 1/16" liners for a more comfortable grip but I'm pretty happy with it as is.

After not liking the design for over a year, one day it just became the "it" knife for me. I have it with me everyday now.

It is stripped and convex'ed a bit, I tried a few different patinas, but I hit it with a scotch-brite pad and have left it that way for a while now. I won some liners from TJswarbrick (which were absolutely perfect) and it has factory micarta.. huge difference adding the micarta.
I am hoping to grab a 5 someday soon too.

You really should grab a five. I know it seems crazy comparing the BK15 at 5/32nds to the 5 at 3/16ths but (I may get shot for this) after using them side by side for a while now I think the overall geometry on the 5 is better. I have not mic'd them to see but for some reason I think the 5 may come down to a thinner edge by just a bit... The comparison can really be seen when cutting through something like potatoes, carrots, or doing hard cuts with each knife. It may not be the edge thickness but maybe how they taper up towards the spine. Because of the 5's width it does this much more gradually, or at least this is true in my 2 examples. I really think that if they took the 15 at 5/32nds, added more width (3/4" to 1/2") to the blade while keeping the handles the same so it could get thinner, it would be even better. Would not be as durable but it would slice/cut even better I think. They even could remove the choil... Imagine the 15 with a wider blade, no choil, same handles... Droool. It is already the closest to a perfect production belt knife for the price I can find, I just think a little more width would definitely turn it up to 11. (I ramble too much lol).

 ramble on!

All I did was put the micarta handles on it and a tan Azwelke Kydex sheath.

EXCELLENT knife for cleaning fish.
