Why the plastic scale is champhered FROM INSIDE (next to lockbar)?
It would be logical if it were outside, no? easier to unlock
Othervise I'm 100% satisfied. very well made knife.

Aloha and welcome Lenny,

Thanks for your support and for enjoying your SF. To answer your question, this is a "locking lip" if anything else, to prevent the scale from lifting off in that area. Also, when unlocking is done, there is less material "in the way"...

God bless and mahalo much:thumbup:

Thanks, Daywalker! I assume you're one who desined the knife?
You made fine quality + inexpensive + cute one!

Aloha Lenny,

LOL, yes...I am the one responsible for the "Biscuit" design.:p It is rather...er, "cute".:D

As for the quality, price point...that goes to Boker.

Say, when this knife first came out, I joined a Russian Forum because guys were talking about it, you know? However, after I signed up and figured out a way to post...no one came back to those threads. :( LOL!!!:D Oh well...

Mahalo for your kind words and God bless:thumbup:

Daywalker,
I’m not expert on materials so I’m a little confused on the steel used to make the BO589 Subcom F folder. The catalog calls it bead-blasted 420J2 an the blade is marked AUS 8. are these designations interchangeable?

No what happened is that the first batch was made of 420j2 not the greateast of cutlery steels although the first subcoms seemed to be better than most blades made of it, then it was upgraded to AUS 8 which is a fine stainless that stays sharper longer. Some catalog descriptions still list 420j2 even if they have the AUS 8 version. I'm not sure but I dont think theres any first gen subcoms out there anymore.

Aloha CRKS,

Yep...Cyblade is absolutely correct. (Thanks for the back up Cyblade!);)

The first run SF's were made of 420J2. Some griped about it, (me included) until I got one and started using it. This 420J2, IS incredible...I attribute this to the thinness of the blade. I mean, my wife still uses a 1st Gen. SF with pimped out scale by potterma, and when her edge dulls a bit, a couple strops on cardboard and it's pretty much right back!

The change to AUS8 is a welcome one for the "overall knife users", and it is one of my favorite steels to this day. However, I would not mind an SF in X15!!!;)

God bless and sorry for the confusion:thumbup:

X15? Why not ceramics (and titanium + CF handles)? The blade is small enough to withstand ceramics

Seconded. Although it would probably be pretty expensive for a knife that's usually rather cheap, I'd still be interested. Oh, wait... ceramic knives can't be imported by federal law :( Fortunately, state law does not ban owning them. I can own it, but I can't import it. But still, I'd be interested in acquiring one ;)

Aloha Knifebrother!!!

Well, you see...only a gifted few knife owners, and master knife designers have experience with ceramics. Seeing that I chose X15, that shows where I stand in all this doesn't it?:o Also, it shows where you and Th232 stand!;)

God bless you guys and take care:thumbup:

I'll second the x15 version, it would be great around salt water.

Aloha Cyblade,

I "second" your second.:D Anything that is "great around salt water" is a definite plus for me considering where I live!

(Um...Alex, we're talking about steel, X15 steel...not women!:p :D :p :D !!!)

God bless and mahalo:cool:
