I just got myself a Chive today for various reasons, not the least of which is that I have a thing for small, functional knives. I got it at WalMart in order to save on shipping and whatnot and so's I wouldn't have to wait - I almost went insane recently waiting for stuff I ordered to arrive.
I was getting annoyed waiting at the knife counter while the guy working that area kept running back and forth and totally ignoring me as I stood there. Finally another, who was wearing a Disturbed visor, asked if I needed help and got the knife out for me. Clearly he'd never handled a Chive before because I had to show him where the blade was locked when he couldn't figure out how to open it. He was also surprised at how small it was.
But he was otherwise polite and helpful unlike the other guy who kept walking away. I swear I wanted to trip him to get him to stand still for two seconds. I bet he'd be more helpful if they worked on a commission basis...
BTW, anybody know how long they've had that little note under the Chive and Scallion saying that they may not be available in all areas? I don't remember seeing that last time I looked at that display case with all the pictures of the knives.
So the guy opened and closed the knife and handed it to me and I fiddled with it a bit and actually managed to slice a thin layer of skin off a finger, no blood. I've never had that happen before. I think this critter is sharper than my Itty Bitty and I didn't think that was even possible. Are all Kershaws that sharp???
I've gotten the worry of hurting the knife out of the way by managing to speed-safe the thing right out of my hand (I put a cord on it as soon as I got inside) onto my driveway and nicking the blade. I was actually afraid at first that the tip might have broken off, but it was fine. So I've already done a minor fix on the blade.
Well, Kershaw's got a new fan. Why'd I post all this? I dunno. I guess I just felt like sharing.
